Touhou Bougetsushou (Ephemeral Moon Vignette) ~ Tsuki no Inaba to Chijou no Inaba (Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth) (東方儚月抄 ~ 月のイナバと地上の因幡) is a series of comedic 4koma strips drawn by Toshihira Arata and serialized in Manga 4koma Kings Palette. Unlike other Touhou print works, ZUN is credited as "原案" (the base of setting and character design) instead of "原作" (scenario). Note that in the title, "Inaba" (イナバ) (of the Moon) is written in katakana, but "Inaba" (因幡) (of the Earth) is written in kanji.

Touhou Bougetsushou (東方儚月抄) is a loosely interconnected storyline about the Lunarians that includes Silent Sinner in Blue, Cage in Lunatic Runagate, and Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth. Bougetsushou (儚月抄) can be translated as "Ephemeral Moon Vignette"; compare with the main title of its predecessor 東方永夜抄 ~ Imperishable Night (Touhou Eiyashou), where "永夜抄" translates to "Eternal Night Vignette".

The illustration of the cover of premium version of the first volume shows Udonge laid on boiling water in the hot pot. This is a joke, as it's often mentioned, that Udonge is said to going to be eaten as rabbit nabe. On the other hand, that of premium version of the second volume shows Tewi sitting on a shark fin. This is also a joke concerning the White Rabbit of Inaba stepping on sharks in Kojiki.

Canonicity

Despite being considered an official Touhou work, the canonicity of this manga may be somewhat debatable, both due to its slightly over-the-top comedic gag nature, and due to ZUN reportedly being only loosely involved in its creation. Due to the fact that some character relationships, like the one between Fujiwara no Mokou and Kaguya Houraisan, can be gleaned from Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth, it's still a good (if unreliable) source by which to gauge their relationship. Several events in the comic were also referenced later in official works (the fast growing bamboo in Touhou Hisoutensoku's victory quotes, or Tewi Inaba's colored rabbits scam in Oriental Sacred Place, for example), although these could just be shout-outs.
