The Lampads or "Lampades" (Greek: Λαμπάδες) are the nymphs of the Underworld in Greek mythology. Companions of Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft and crossroads, they were a gift from Zeus for Hecate's loyalty in the Titanomachy. They carry torches and accompany Hecate on her night-time travels and hauntings. According to some legends, the light of the Lampads' torches can drive one to madness.

Lampads in Touhou

In Touhou, lampads like Clownpiece seem to be considered a type of fairy. They inhabit Hell, and are servants of Hecatia Lapislazuli, a goddess of Hell who is herself based on Hecate. Like the creatures they are based on, Touhou's lampads have the power to drive people insane with their torches.
