Under relationships, putting Hijiri as 'employer' or something may be a good idea.

ぎゃーてーぎゃーてー

Someone needs to figure out this "ぎゃーてーぎゃーてー" business. From the tiny bit of research I've done, it's related to something called the Heart Sutra and the part of her official profile that reads "Her ability works well with reciting Buddhist sutras." According to the pixiv encyclopedia, it is written with the kanji "羯諦" in Japanese. The Wikipedia article on the Heart Sutra says that a part of the sutra written with similar characters in Chinese ("揭諦") is pronounced "gahteh," assuming that I read the IPA correctly. I think that's close enough to make sense. Then again, is explaining silly Japanese memes part of the Touhou Wiki's purpose?

I've seen it romanized a few different ways (gaté, gyatee, gaatee, and others). Like Byakuren with namusan, since gaté appears on her cut-ins, it should be significant enough to include in Trivia. And memes are definitely to be included in wikis, if they're widespread enough. That's just what the Fandom section is for. UTW 04:43, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

I just registered and added the info on it today. The sutra is in various languages, but "gyate" is in the Japanese version, as is "ze mu to do shu". I guess this can be removed if everyone's satisfied with the info I posted?

"a) Indication of primary role + omission of damage-dealing means non-damage is implied."

On the contrary, omission of damage-dealing means that damage is implied. Most things cause damage - we don't mention every time that they do.

"b) Deflecting bullets from the player is a consequence of any trajectory-altering ability and is not the primary intention.)"

I guess the sub-section was probably improperly named - but it is an explanation of its performance, not its intention.--Tosiaki 17:23, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
a) Looking at it again, that depends on how many barrier-type moves deal damage, and so on. There's no point in explicitly saying that every X action used by a character does not deal damage. I wouldn't say for example that Sunny's refraction field is non-damaging, wheras for cases such as Reimu, Medicine, or Shikieiki there is probably a stronger case. I guess it's not obvious, so sure.
b) The same could be extended to any path-altering move (Sunny's field, TD Extra Nue SC 1). Kyouko only deploys her border to concentrate bullets and then to release them in short bursts. It would be impossible for her to concentrate her bullets without, well, redirecting them away from the player. This is like mentioning that any "charging" has the effect of reducing the number of attacks.
On a similar note, there are other situations where some sort of path-altering happens with danmaku. In some attacks, excess danmaku is thrown but half ends up being redirected back (e.g. Nue's Snake Show) - in those cases the redirection is an attempt to confuse the player. The only case there it would be most appropriate to mention that reprieve is given to the player is with Reisen's spell cards. Her lunatic eyes does two things - reposition her bullets and allow the player to reposition herself. - Kiefmaster99 18:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
I think that it is simply a matter of notability - that is, Kyouko is mostly about reflection in her battle performance, so it might be more relevant to mention more things about reflection than for other characters. It is not as central to Nue, for example.--Tosiaki 18:33, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
The reason I added it was due to its mention here - surely it is at least somewhat significant.--Tosiaki 19:40, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Each point needs to be decided on its own merit. I still don't think it's very notable (meaning if other editors think so too I'm removing it) but it's workable. - Kiefmaster99 19:47, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Choujuu Gigaku

Wait, is this actually canon? I'm pretty sure Zun was just trying to show us some of the crazy things that appear in Bunbun。 It's been stated countless times that Aya stretches the facts or out right makes things up for it. For now I'm going to take out the mention of this.Flan27 03:24, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

It's mentioned here. Under "The Youkai of Myouren Temple". Polaris 03:39, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
And besides both Kanako and Marisa having witnessed it, Aya includes a photograph in her article. Also, it would be strange for Aya to make up a story which more-or-less accurately depicts something from the Outside World that most of her readers have never heard of. --Prime32 17:51, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Oh? I hadn't read that Youkai of Myouren Temple article yet. Well it's definitely canon than. Actually, I'm quite glad. Kyouko is sexy in her new costume. There are lots of pictures of her rocking out on pixiv now. Flan27 (talk) 21:39, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
