Mysterious Fire in the Bamboo Forest
|
| あわや山火事と言うところ、二人の少女により鎮火
|
Sudden bushfire put out by two girls.
|

| ０月０日１９時頃、永遠亭付近の竹林から火の手が上がった。
|
At the X month, X day, around 19 hours, flames rose from the Bamboo Forest in the vicinities of Eientei.
|
| 幸いにも周囲１０米程度まで広がったところ食い止められ鎮火した。
|
Fortunately, it only spread to a 10 meter circumference before being checked off and extinguished.
|
| この火事による被害者は無い。
|
There were no victims from this fire.
|
| 消火活動はその場所に居り合わせた二人の少女と数匹の兎たちによって行われた。
|
The firefight was carried out by the joint efforts of two girls and several rabbits that were at the scene.
|
| 詳しい出火原因判っておらず、放火の可能性もあると調査している。
|
Without further knowledge about the fire's cause, and considering the possibility of arson, I'm conducting an investigation.

| 消火活動を行った藤原妹紅と蓬莱山輝夜（共に人間）は、出火の原因と消火活動するのに至った経緯をこう述べていた。
|
Fujiwara no Mokou and Kaguya Houraisan (both human), who carried out the extinguishing, spoke about the circumstances of the fire's cause and the firefight.

| 「出火の原因？ そ、そうねぇそれは判らないけど、偶然居り合わせたから消火しただけよ。大惨事にならなくて良かった」（妹紅）

"The fire's cause? Well... yeah, well, I don't know about that, but I was there by coincidence so I helped to put it out. Thankfully, it didn't become a tragedy." (Mokou)

| 「この近くに私の家があるの。そこまで火が広まったら困るじゃないの。それに誰だって目の前で火が出ていたら消火するでしょう？」（輝夜）

"My house is nearby here. If the fire were to spread there, it would be a problem. In these circumstances, wouldn't anyone put out a fire that starts up in front of one's own eyes?" (Kaguya)

| 二人とも火災現場に偶然居り合わせただけで、出火原因に関しては判らないと言う。
|
Which is to say that they were together at the fire's scene by coincidence, and don't know about its cause.
|
| 付近には火が出そうな物も無く、原因は放火か自然発火現象の二通りが考えられている。
|
With nothing in the vicinity that would cause the fire naturally, I can only think of it being either arson or spontaneous combustion.

| この辺には永遠亭の他には余り人が住んでなく滅多に人が通ることもない、発見遅れれば大惨事になっていた。
|
Almost nobody lives around here besides the Eientei residents, and people seldom pass through this place. Had the sighting been any later, it would have become a great tragedy.

| 「た、煙草のポイ捨てかしら？ 最近の若いもんは非常識なもんでねぇ。平気で信じられないことをしたりするのよ」（妹紅）

"Co-could it have been some tobacco litterings? Youngsters these days ain't got no common sense. They recklessly do the most unbelievable things." (Mokou)

| 「焼き鳥のポイすてかもしれないわね。この辺は焼き鳥のメッカだからね」（輝夜）

"It could have been a discarded yakitori. Since this place is a Mecca for yakitori." (Kaguya)

| 焼き鳥のメッカと聞いて、鴉天狗である私はこの場を早く立ち去りたい気分だったので深く追求するのをやめた。
|
Being myself a crow tengu, at hearing the words "Mecca for yakitori", I found myself wanting to quickly take my leave from this place. Therefore, I refrained from a more detailed investigation.

| 後日冷静に考えてみると、焼き鳥で山火事になるとは考えられない上、火災現場付近で言う鳥と言うのは兎だと理解した。
|
Later, when thinking it over calmly, I realized that, besides the fact that a yakitori couldn't possibly have caused a bushfire, the birds that were said to be in the area of the fire scene were actually rabbits.

| 恐らく火の付いた兎の事を指していたのでは無いか。そういう事にしよう。
|
Perhaps this all points to the rabbits being the ones who started the fire? Let's consider it that way.

I don't know when and where this fire started.
|
| まず自分の身の回りで燃えそうな物がないか再度点検することをお勧めする。

More importantly, I recommend to always check twice for flammable objects around you.

貴方達以外に人居なかったんですよね。それで火災すぐに鎮火した。

冷静に考えてみれば、誰がどう考えても貴方達が火災を起こした犯人です。状況からはそうとうしか考えられない。

If you think calmly about that, anyone would reach the conclusion that you were the ones who started the fire. Given the circumstances, it's the only thing one can conclude.

あの時火災はおきていなかった。竹林には一切の火の気はなく、貴方は何も見ていない。この日は平和での何も無かった。それで良いでしょう。

Back at that time, there wasn't any fire. There's not a single trace of fire in the bamboo forest, you haven't seen anything. That was a peaceful, uneventful day. And that's about it.
