Title Screen	赤より紅い夢	A Dream that is more Scarlet than Red
タイトル画面テーマです。 東方なんで、和風にしてみました。いやほんと。 ゲームはまるで和風じゃ無いくせに(^^; ＳＴＧとは思えないような曲です。 そもそも、タイトル画面に曲は必要なのでしょうか（笑）？		The title theme. It's Japanese, because it's Touhou (Eastern). No, really. However, it's not like the game is (^^; This doesn't sound like a shooting game piece. Furthermore, is a title theme really necessary at all? :)

タイトル画面の曲です。 　　通常なら「東方紅魔郷」とゲームのタイトルをつけるところですが、 　　曲調しんみりしすぎてるので、やめました(^^; 　　今回は「紅」がキーワードです。紅が色々盛り込まれています。		The song for the title screen. Normally, I would title it "Touhou Koumakyou" like the game, but since the melody sounded so lonely I didn't. (^^; This time "red" is the keyword. There are lots of reds put in.

Stage 1 theme	ほおずきみたいに紅い魂	A Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry
１面テーマです。 夜の森をイメージしてあります。一面だし、曲に勇ましさがあると やる気が出るかなと思い、ちょっと元気のある曲を目指しました。 勇ましさというかコミカルな百鬼夜行って感じかな？		Stage 1 theme. The image of a midnight forest. As it's the first stage, I aimed for something a little energetic, so hopefully people would get into it. But isn't it something a little more comical and hectic?

宵闇に鬼灯（ほおずき）のように紅く丸く、ふらふら漂っている魂．．． 　　よくあるただの鬼火です。ほおずきは季節ものですし、花言葉は「欺瞞」。 　　季節ものつっても、夏コミだから夏。場合によっては冬以降のコミケで 　　買う方も要るかもしれないのに...		A soul that's as red and round as a hozuki floating in the darkness of dawn. It's just a common ball of fire. A hozuki is a seasonal flower and its meaning is "trickery". Even though I say seasonal it's going to be sold at the summer comiket so the season is summer. There could be people buying it at the winter comiket too... Notes: "Trickery" in this context is considered trickery of others starting by tricking one's self. Hozuki (ほおずき) is a Japanese lantern plant. Physalis alkekengi. It is also used in comparison to balls of fire that are said to be the soul of the dead that remain on earth.

Stage 1 Boss - Rumia's theme	妖魔夜行	Apparitions Stalk the Night
ルーミアのテーマです。 この曲に限らず、今回、全体的に軽快な曲になっています。 この曲は夜の妖怪をイメージしました、 　　・・・って言っても良いんだろうか(^^; ノリ的には結構馬鹿っぽいです。		Rumia's theme. Not just this, but all the music this time is meant to be light. This comes from an image of youkai in night ...or, at least, I hope so (^^; It's fairly relaxed and a little silly.

ヨーマヤコーってかくとブータン人みたい。 　　この辺はまだ、熾烈な闘いのイメージが少ないので、爽やかに。 　　妖魔以外の魔は妖しくないの？		"Yoh-Ma-Ya-Kou" it sort of sounds like somebody from Bhutan. Since the isn't an image of dead heated fights yet, something that feels fresh. Is a devil that's not a Yohma not strange?

Stage 2 theme	ルーネイトエルフ	Lunate Elf
２面テーマです。 水と霧をイメージして、ちょっと不気味さも混ぜて見ました。 過去の東方のイメージとほとんど同じ感じとも言える。 ２面って言うと、なんの為にあるのかよく分からないからなぁ(^^;		Stage 2 theme. I thought of water and mist, and mixed an omen or two. In many ways, it resembles the feel of older titles. I don't really know why there's a Stage 2 anyway (^^;

ここでいうエルフは耳の尖った例のアレ、じゃなくて、妖精そのもの 　　を指しています。意味はまるでありません。 　　妖精以外の精は妖しくないの？		The elf that's referred to here is not the one with the pointy ears but the fairy. There's no meaning to this. Is a fairy that's not a Yousei not strange? Notes: Yousei is what's written, but this word consists of the characters Strange (Yoh) and Fairy (Sei) thus ZUN's playing with breaking the words apart and putting them back together again.

Stage 2 Boss - Cirno's theme	おてんば恋娘	Tomboyish Girl in Love
チルノのテーマです。 やっぱり、頭の悪い少女をイメージしてます。 その割には明るいんだか暗いんだか分からない曲に仕上がって なんとも。ハイスピードにしっとりしたメインメロディとか。 まぁ、２面だし（ぉ		Cirno's theme. I actually did think of a dim-witted girl for this. However, I don't know if what came out can be considered bright or dark. The tempo is pretty fast, but... Well, it's stage 2. (ha)

頭の悪そうな曲を作りたかったので、まず曲名から頭を悪くしました。 　　言葉の響きや文字の見た目がなんか頭悪いです。 　　その割にピアノメロディは、ちょっとエキゾチック感も混ぜて、 　　個人的に萌え萌えです。		I wanted to make a stupid sounding song so I started by making the tile sound stupid. The sound of the words and the look of the characters are a bit stupid. Despite that, I mixed in an exotic piano melody to it and a personal "moe-moe".

Stage 3 theme	上海紅茶館　～ Chinese Tea	Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea
３面テーマです。 中華風に仕上げる予定でしたが、結果そんなでも無いようです(^^; でも曲は東洋風です。４面以降に東洋風の曲を作ることが出来なさ そうだったので、ここでつくっときました(^^; Fusionというより New Age風かな？		Stage 3 theme. I intended to make it more Chinese, but it didn't quite work out. (^^; However it's still Oriental, because I knew it would be hard to put Oriental songs past stage 4 (^^; It's more New Age rather than Fusion, I guess?

中国っぽくしたかったのですが、結局あまり中国ではないですね（汗） 　　最近、紅茶飲んでないなぁ。血の紅茶って業が深い。 　　というか、レミリア達の飲んでいる紅茶はただの人間の血なんですが、 　　お茶と言って良いの？		I wanted Chinese sounding but it didn't end up too Chinese. (Sweats) I haven't drank black tea in a while. But black tea made of blood is very sinful. Well, the tea that Remilia and such are drinking is really just human blood. Can I really call that tea?

Stage 3 Boss - Hong Meiling's theme	明治十七年の上海アリス	Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17
紅　美鈴（ホン・メイリン）のテーマです。 欧羅巴の香りとゲーム音楽の香りを混ぜてあります。(2:8位で) 中華でも何でも無いあたりがアレです。上海のフランス租界をイメ ージしているからです。 もっとも、美鈴も人間では無いみたいだけど、何者なんだろう（ぉ		Hong Meiling's theme. A hint of Europe, mixed with game music. (a 2:8 ratio) It's strange that it's not more Chinese, but that's because it's composed with the image of the French settlement in Shanghai in mind. But, Meiling looks like she's not human. Then what is she... (eh)

この頃の上海はいかほどだったのでしょう？ 　　明治十七年は、清仏戦争の年です。 　　外国租界を含め、これほど「魔都」の名前が似合う都市は無いですね。 　　ちなみに「魔都」とは「魔界都市 - 新宿 -」の略ではありません。		I wonder how Shanghai was back then? Meiji 17th year is the year of the Sino-French war. Even with other places in other countries, there's no city that suits the name of such a "Mato". And "Mato" is not a short form of "Makai city - Shinjyuku".

Stage 4 theme	ヴワル魔法図書館	Voile, the Magic Library
４面テーマです。 この面から室内ステージです。曲も室内の雰囲気を出してみまし た。後半、中ボスあたりから不気味さが出るように曲調が変化し ます。 それ以外には特に特徴も無いですが、強いていえば、ＳＴＧの曲 ではない（笑）		Stage 4 theme. From here, the game moves indoors, so it's composed with indoor atmospheres in mind. Its tone shifts to something more ominous halfway through the song, where you would normally meet the mid-stage boss. Other than that, there's nothing special about this theme, but really, it's not a shooting game piece :)

魔導書などの専門の図書館があってもいいんじゃないかと。 　　急にファンタジー。って、一応全体的にファンタジーのつもりですが 　　ヴワルというのは固有名詞なんで余り意味ありません。 　　フランス語かなんかで、なんか意味があります（笑）		I think it's a legitimate idea to have libraries that specialized in grimoires. It's a fantasy land all of a sudden. Well, I meant it to be fantasy from the start. Voile is just a proper noun and doesn't have much of a meaning. Although it does have a meaning in French or something. (Laughs)

Stage 4 Boss - Patchouli Knowledge's theme	ラクトガール　～ 少女密室	Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room
パチュリー・ノーレッジのテーマです。 ああ、またいつもの悪い病気が... 暗い曲です。こんなにも激しいのに明るさも軽快さも感じません もうちょっと気持ちよければいいんですが、この曲聴くと微妙に 暗い気分になる感じがします（笑）		Patchouli Knowledge's theme. Again with this sick feeling... It's a dark song, without any light or bright moments, despite its quite fast-paced nature. It could stand to be a little less heavy, as listening to this piece could drag someone down :)

Locked Girl、鍵っ娘です。Keyとは特に関係はありません。 　　日陰大好き、不健康少女。 　　ちなみに密室、密室で殺人する意味ってあんまないですよね。 　　私は密室自殺なら出来そうです。		Locked girl, a locked-away girl. It has nothing to do with Key. She's a unhealthy girl who loves the shade. By the way, there isn't much meaning to killing people in locked rooms is there. I could probably do suicide in a locked room.

Stage 5 theme	メイドと血の懐中時計	The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood
５面のテーマです 不思議な不思議な曲です。スピードを出そうとしてつんのめりそ うな曲になってるのは、特殊な拍子のせいでしょうか？ ロックにしたかったんですが、私はあまりロックを聴かない所為 か、ロックというものを誤解している可能性大(^^;		Stage 5 theme. A very mysterious song. Its unusual beat toys with your sense of speed, sometimes seeming to go faster. I was trying for a rock piece, but as I don't listen to rock much, it's quite possible that I have no idea what I'm doing (^^;

なんか、分かりやすいタイトルです。分かりやすいことはいいことです。 　　メイドや女中というより小間使いって言ったほうが好き。 　　統計によると、大半の方がメイドと聞いただけで若い娘を思い浮かべて 　　しまうそうですが（何の統計？）、役に立つメイドさんは３、４０～です 　　よね。		It's an easy title to understand. Easily understandable is a good thing. Rather than saying maids or Jochuu, I prefer saying Komadukai. Generally speaking, most people think of a young woman when they hear "a maid". (What general is that?), but an actually useful maid would probably be around 30~40. Notes: "Jochuu" and "Komadukai" along with "maids" are different ways to women working for a house.

Stage 5 Boss - Sakuya Izayoi's theme	月時計　～ ルナ・ダイアル	Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial
十六夜　咲夜（いざよい・さくや）のテーマです。 メイドさんといえばハードロック（嘘） かなりハードです。５面ということでこの位の激しさが必要だと やっぱり誤解してるのかなぁ(^^; >ロック 私的詩的ロックということで		Sakuya Izayoi's theme. You can't have a maid without hard rock (j/k) It's quite driving, fitting for the second-to-last stage. ...Guess I still don't know much about rock (^^; Let's just say it's poetic rock, done my way.

「黄泉津平坂、暗夜行路」（藤木稟）に出てくる時計です。 　　月時計というものがどういうものか知りたいものです(^^; 　　ハードなロック調なのはルナな部分。 　　あの小説で霊気琴という楽器が出てくるのですが、１，２年前ようやく 　　どういう楽器か分かりました(^^; 　　つーか、上流階級でも、明治時代の家にあるの？霊気琴（テル・ミン）		The clock that appears in the novel "Yomizu hirasaka Yamiyo kouro" by Fujiki Rin. I would like to know what kind of clock a lunar clock is. (^^; The hard rock part is the lunar part. There's an instrument called a Theremin in that novel, but I found out about a year or so ago what that was. (^^; Even if the house was rich, would a Theremin be something found in a house of the Meiji era? Notes: The Theremin is an electrical instrument presented by the Russian inventor Leon Theremin. It senses the position of the performer's hand through electrostatic capacity and uses it to control its pitch and volume. The greatest charm of this instrument is its eerie sounds and the fact that it is played without any physical contact and physical feedback (save sound).

Stage 6 theme	ツェペシュの幼き末裔	The Young Descendant of Tepes
最終面のテーマです。 最終面はいつもしっとりさせすぎていたので、今回は軽快なノリ で。短いステージの、ただのつなぎの曲なので、あまり自己主張 させないような曲にしました。		Final stage theme. The final stage themes have always been loaded, so I made it upbeat this time. As the final stage itself is quite short, I made this piece not as assertive.

ツェペシュとはブラド・ツェペシュのことです。 　　ドラキュラ公のモデルになった事で有名ですね。なんでも２万もの捕虜を 　　全員串刺しにして道に立てて並べたとか... 　　でもレミリアは末裔ではありません。		Tepes meaning Vlad Tepes. He's famous for being the model of Count Dracula. From what I hear, he impaled twenty thousand captives and stood them by the road... Although Remilia isn't his descendant.

Stage 6 Boss - Remilia Scarlet's theme	亡き王女の為のセプテット	Septette for a Dead Princess
レミリア・スカーレットのテーマです。 これがラストだ！といわんばかりの曲を目指しました。 あんまり重厚さを出したり不気味さを出したり、そういうありが ちラストは嫌なので、ジャズフュージョンチックにロリっぽさを 混ぜて．．．、ってそれじゃいつもとあんまり変わらんな。 このメロディは自分でも理解しやすく、気に入っています。		Remilia Scarlet's theme. With this, I tried for a "This is the end!" feeling. I didn't want it to be regal or ominous, which is normal for a final stage, so I made it Jazz-Fusion based with a hint of loli... wait, that's not any different than normal. Its melody is easy for even me to get, so I like this song.

とあるクラシックの有名曲をもじってタイトルにしています。 　　その曲とは一切の関係もありません。 　　しかも曲はセプテットでもないです。雰囲気だけ（汗） 　　そもそも、誰も亡くなっていないし、王女ってだれ？		I tweaked a certain famous classic song's title and made it the title. It has nothing to do with that song though. To top it off, the music isn't even a septtete, only the feeling. (Sweats) In the first place, nobody's dead and who's the princess? Notes: The "certain famous classic song" to which ZUN is referring is Maurice Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a Dead Princess), which is translated into Japanese as 「亡き王女の為のパヴァーヌ」.

Extra Stage theme	魔法少女達の百年祭	The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls
エキストラステージのテーマです。 時折中華風です。時折ニューエイジ風です。それはなぜか？ 何もテーマも考えずにキーボードを弾いてしまったら、こうなっ てしまいました。 私の惰性の集大成見たいな曲です。よく聴くと、謎めいたフレー ズが詰まっています。私のおもちゃ箱ですね。		Extra stage theme. Sometimes it's Chinese, sometimes it's New Age. Why? This is what happens after messing with my keyboard. It's like an accumulation of my laziness. If you listen closely, there are many strange rhythms in this song. In other words, my toy-box.

百年に一度行われる収穫祭のようなものです。 　　何が収穫されるのでしょう（笑）		Something like a thanksgiving festival that's done every hundred years. I wonder what's for harvest. (Laughs)

Extra Stage Boss - Flandre Scarlet's theme	U.N.オーエンは彼女なのか？	U.N. Owen was Her?
フランドール・スカーレットのテーマです。 今回のもっともお気に入りです。いかにして悪魔っ娘を東洋風に かつ、ミステリアスに表現できるかに挑戦した結果です。 ロリっぽいこのメロディは、今作品でもっとも私らしいメロディ で、鍵盤弾くのが楽しかったです。		Flandre Scarlet's theme. I liked this one the best out of the whole game. It depicts a devilish girl in an Oriental and mysterious way. Loli-tastic melodies like this are what I'm best at, so I had a lot of fun composing this.

U.N.オーエン（ユナ・ナンシィ・オーエン）です。 　　分かる人だけ分かってください。元ネタはかなり古いです（７０年前くらい？） 　　なんで、この名前かっていうと、オーエンをアルファベット表記した方 　　で考えて、フランドールは「何者とも判らぬ者」とかけています。 　　フランドールの９枚目のスペルカードが、そのパロディになっています。		This is U.N. Owen (Una Nancy Owen). Only people who understand it understand please. The original is quite old. (About 70 years ago?) The reason why the name is this, thinking in terms of why the name is written in roman letters, is because Flandre is an unknown being. The ninth spell card is a parody of that.

Ending theme	紅より儚い永遠	An Eternity that is More Transient than Scarlet
エンディングのテーマです。 曲名から想像つくように、タイトル画面の曲の編曲みたいなもの です。そのため和風です。 というか、和風で良いんですが。		Ending theme. As you can guess from its name, this is an arranged version of the title theme. So it's also in a Japanese style. Well, not that there's anything wrong with that.

タイトル曲の編曲みたいなもんなんで、曲名も同じような感じに。 　　いや別に紅って儚い感じはしないんだけどね(^^;		It's a remix sort of thing of the tile so the name is similar. Although red doesn't really feel transient. (^^;

Staff Roll theme	紅楼　～ Eastern Dream...	Crimson Tower ~ Eastern Dream...
スタッフロールのテーマです。 いつもは絶望的に暗い曲ばっかのスタッフロールでしたが、今回 は希望的に明るくしました。多分。 相変わらずスタッフが少ないので、あまり長い曲には出来ません。 もっと壮大な曲でも良かったんですが、割とインルームな印象の 曲になりました。これは意図していません（笑）		Staff Roll theme. The staff roll has always been dark and desperate, so I made it a bit more happy and hopeful this time. I think. As the staff list is always short, I couldn't write a long piece. I could have made it more magnificent, but it ended up a little dry. That was not my intention (heh)

そういえば、昔の私は、日本語　～ 英語　ってフォーマットで曲名 　　付けてたような... 　　それはともかく、スタッフロールは"なにがしDream"と付ける風習が 　　自分にはあるので、今回も(^^;		Now that I think of it, I used to title songs in a Japanese ~ English format... Anyways, I tend to put "whatever Dream" to staff roll themes, so once again.(^^;
