Translation
In fact there's only history in our world, but still leaving one's name on history is
thought as something excellent. That's because history is always made-up, or so Keine said.

戻り橋はともかく、世に弾幕が戻る事はあれど、私の知る限り全て
不完全だ。完全な戻り弾幕はこうである。なんか生理的に避け難い。
Translation
Leaving returning-bridge aside, there're so many returning curtain-fires in the world.
But all of them are incomplete for me. This is the perfect returning curtain-fire. Physiologically hard to evade.

ネクストヒストリーはフューチャーだ。歴史を創る力は未来を創る。
未来を見据える人間は後向きで前に進むのだ、って慧音が言ってた。
Translation
The next history is the future. The ability to create history is the same as creating the future.
People who always look to the future are actually walking backwards to the past, or so Keine said.

A murder case lost to history. There are unsolved murder cases prescribing even nowadays. If nobody knows about it, did it really happen?

Ho-yoku Tensho-. I don't know how it's set up, but it looks strong.
The Phoenix, Fenghuang and Suzaku are often thought of as the same thing, but is it really so?

権力者は祟りを畏れていた。寺を建て善行を重ねたのに、祟りは雨の様に降りしきる。それも仕様が無い、ウィルスだったのだ。
Translation
A powerful aristocratic family's fear of curses made them build temples and perform all sorts of good deeds. In the end, this was a futile effort, as hexes showered upon them like rain. There was nothing they could have done, regardless, as the curses were viruses to begin with.[6]

A messenger who felt bored en route and ended up settling down.
The reason you see Xu Fu's legend everywhere is because he found the Hourai Elixir and became immortal.

Woe, how foolish the honest man seems. Yet know this: the only one whose eyes perceive him as foolish are the liar's. In truth, they are the ones most handsomely rewarded.[9] Even in death.

Wu. A not-so-beautiful phoenix. It got run over by a car, and splat.
This attack is something like putting her hand to the ground, and Touchah! (joking too much)[11]

Translation
Phoenix's tail, mass-production model. It's relatively cheap. Lately, immortal society has found it's easier to prolong their
lives with something inexpensive like this, rather than look for something as rare as the Hourai Elixir, so it's gotten popular.

Mt. Fuji is a volcano with powerful eruption. I feel like if I got 80% of the way up

シューティングは終わらない。でもこの攻撃はシュートしていない。
そんな攻撃にこの名前を付けたのには意味がある(ここに書けよ)。

The shooting doesn't stop, but there isn't any shooting in this attack.
There's a reason I named it this, though. (Well, then write it down here!)
To unlock: Beat Extra with capturing 7 or more spell cards in one play, including Keine's.

Notes

  1. Ichijou Bridge: A bridge located in Kyoto. Local legend has it that it's an entrance to the next world.
  2. Tsuki no Iwakasa: the person who went to throw Hourai Elixir into Mt. Fuji by Emperor's order. Apparently Mokou murdered him and stole the Elixir in this story. Cf 4th ch. of CiLR.
  3. 鳳翼天翔 is Ikki's attack skill in 'Saint Seiya'
  4. Feng: a male fenghuang
  5. 滅罪寺院 (metsuzai ji'in, "sin-forgiving temple") - Full name is 法華滅罪之寺, known as Hokke Temple for short. Built by Empress Kōmyō in 745 on the former mansion grounds of her father, Fujiwara no Fuhito.
  6. This is most likely a reference to Fujiwara no Fujito's four sons, who all died of smallpox in 737. The incident was labelled as "The curse of Prince Nagaya."
  7. Xu Fu - an ancient Chinese alchemist sent by the First Emperor of Qin to find the elixir of life on a fabled island. Legends have it that he found Japan instead.
  8. This spell could be referencing the eight honest men from "Dolls in Pseudo Paradise"
  9. A play on words is present here in the sense that 得をする generally means "to profit, to be blessed, to reap rewards", but it can also mean "to reach nirvana; to be reborn in paradise"
  10. 虚人 refers to an immortal being called "Wu" (Chinese reading of : nothing) that is depicted in a manga; '3x3 Eyes' by Yuzo Takada. The car-running over part is how Yakumo, the protagonist, nearly dies before being turned into a Wu.
  11. It's a reference to 'Tou Zaau' (Cantonese reading of 土爪); a spirit that is depicted in the manga. Tou Zaau looks something like a crab that splits the ground apart when its summoner puts his hand to the ground and summons it.
  12. This spell card's name is a reference to a revival item in Final Fantasy series, Phoenix Down (フェニックスの尾, Fenikkusu no o?, lit. “Phoenix Tail”)
  13. 凱風快晴 is literally translated to "Victorious wind, Clear blue sky" and an ukiyo-e (a depiction of Mt. Fuji) by Hokusai Katsushika. In Cage in Lunatic Runagate, the goddess Princess Sakuya warned Mokou and Iwakasa that Fujiyama would become active and erupt again if the Hourai Elixir were thrown into it.
  14. Mokou's title in this game is 蓬莱の人の形 (Figure of the Person of Hourai) but if you delete both の letters, it will become "Hourai Doll".
  15. Probably referring to the short story included in "Dolls in Pseudo Paradise".
