Notes

  1. Wordplay of Japanese axiom: "the boat with many captains will be driven up a mountain" (船頭多くして船山に登る), which is the Japanese equivalent of "too many cooks spoil the broth".
  2. Video game series Double Dragon.
  3. Kaburo (禿童) appear to refer to pageboys of the Taira clan in the Tale of the Heike, who worked as the spies to gather rumors/information in the court (which is in fact seen as fiction); douji (童子), a similar term referring to children, is included in the name of the oni that Suika is based off of — "酒呑童子" or "伊吹童子".
