RefRain prism memories is a danmaku shooting game by the Doujin circle RebRank and is the second installment of Project Blank. It is the only game by RebRank that is available on Steam.

Gameplay

RefRain heavily de-emphasizes the precision dodging element that is present in many games in the danmaku genre. Instead, aggressive strategies are encouraged, which establishes a feeling of speed and urgency. This is done by creating near-unavoidable enemy attacks and making the destruction of enemy bullets a core gameplay element. With the help of the aircraft's "M.I.F.A2", the player can use special attacks that break enemy bullet barrages. The player can also use the "Concept Reactor" to convert enemy bullets into breakable prisms that recharge the M.I.F.A2 when shot.

There are 3 playable aircraft in the game, with 1 available to the player at the start, and the other 2 unlocked through gameplay. Each aircraft has a different set of shots as well as 4 unique M.I.F.A2 attacks.

Story

RefRain features three playable characters: Miria, who pilots the Must Viper, Tee, who pilots the Blitz Lester, and Mews, who pilots the Bronx Terror.

The world of RefRain has connections to the world of Samidare.

Music

Unlike ZUN's style of music, and like previous instalments in Project Blank, the game's soundtrack consists of Trance and Techno music. The developers advertise that the game has a "high-octane electronica soundtrack that will quicken your pulse."[1]
