Talk:Relationshipping
What? Aya x Cirno? This is the first time I've I've heard of that one. Suikama 20:49, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- You clearly do not visit any of the imageboards enough. It's fairly common, some people even call it canon. And it is one of the more needed pairings for this page, as most people would just assume it's a baseless crack pairing without an explanation.
- It's not like I wasn't expecting it, but "relationshipping" was the reason why I was a tad bit concerned about the fact that practically every character in the Touhou Project were female. However, Suikama, on the internet, there are basically no limits. This may be a good time to learn that, I'm afraid. --ArseneLupin3 02:17, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking of this, is there a translation patch or ending translation or something out there? I've cleared the relevant Cirno ending legitimately, but I can't even get the jap text to show up, much less understand it. Maloncanth 15:07, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Wait...is Utsuho x Ruukoto really a popular pairing now? I haven't really seen any fanart, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough.
Letty x Cirno in the Masters & Servants? Shouldn't it be listed as General Pairing?
- This is now fixed. -- SuddenFrost 20:57, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
More~
Hmmm Satori and Reimu is getting not quite common but. Oh yeah Orin and Okuu. Also this one is rare: "Ran x Youmu"?
-Dandan550 10:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Some browsing of Gelbooru has turned up a substantial number of images that depict Sakuya x Meiling as a more traditional pairing rather than master/servant, including a four-part image depicting them as 'uke-seme' in all four combinations. Possibly this one should be moved, or at least changed to mention alternate interpretations, if doing so won't add a flood of addendums and contradictions by shippers. - Crasical
- Well with Touhou 11 there i can tell the pairings there too~
- I have added Satori x Reimu since Koishi x Marisa is up there... if Koishi x Marisa is there, so should Satori x Reimu, which is actually more popular than that.
Can't we do much better~?
This might just be me, but considering how relationshipping always is large part of a fandom, couldn't this article be more elaborated? Compared to all the information given on, say, the Yukkuri page, this isn't really that much at all. This article gives you many good example of pairings, but the information given about the pairings could be much meatier. I'm thinking, for those pairing that do have support in canon, why not cite/link in-game quotes, or give a description of how these characters are made out to interact in canon as opposed to fanon. (Example given, considering how popular the Marisa/Alice-pairing is, yet the article doesn't mention any of their in-game interactions at all, like how they teamed up in IN, and how they are even implied to share a bed in their Bad End in that game.)
Many of the pairings are nearly entirely fanon speculations, but even in this case we should give information on the fanon perspective. Some one-sided affections even have near meme-like status, and are popular sources of humor, or so I see it, and in this case, it should be mentioned.
Also, since the wikia has such a large collection of fanworks that of course uses many different pairings, we could link to those whenever possible, like some already have done in the article.
Please see my good intentions and take this idea of elaborating this article into consideration. 81.237.192.74RainyDay
A canon pairing involving Marisa
In the PC-98 series, Marisa had a master, who was Mima. But I don't know if this should go in the Main Character Harems or the Masters and Servants. It involves a main character, while it also involves a master. Fairy Maid 20:18, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've now added this in the Main Character Harems section. -- SuddenFrost 08:13, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
Anyone got more Relationships for UFO?
So far only Nue x Shou appeared..... Any other relationships from UFO? Shimoa 11:22, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Shimoa
- Nue x Sanae. If you read her script in Extra. And Shou x Byakuren. However this is not sure since it's just a week since C76 -Dandan550 11:33, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Sanae X Kogasa
I bet you guys see this now. But I can't think we're to put it on, General Pairings (it's seems it more common) Or in "Domination or Rape" Sanae is just bullying Kogasa... Well? -Dandan550 12:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
A little suggestion.
Maybe they could have links to the most known shippings as their own pages. The shipping pages could contain the fanfictions, doujins, and maybe pictures and external links about the specific shipping. This would help, as I have had some trouble finding these things. Signed, SepharimMA` 12:24, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds interesting but would be worty? -Dandan550 06:54, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
definetly. sounds like a really solid and good idea
- That does present a problem of deciding what exactly would fit the criterion of "links about the specific shipping." If such pages really were created, I think that they would stretch miles long if everything was included.--Tosiaki 01:13, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
Rules
Okay. I found better way to see if it is a relationshipping.
1. The Pictures. (Like common illustrations of Reimu and Yukari doing... XD) 2. Manga/Doujins. 3. Scripts from the game. (It's easy to see.)
If anyone had questions just reply. -Dandan550 11:22, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
Sakuya x Sanae
I have tried looking for it and it seems almost nonexistent. Does it really belong on this list?
Additionally, since Marisa x Koishi is on this list, I am going to add every Marisa pairing that is more popular to this on the list, including Marisa x Cirno, Marisa x Mokou, etc.. Any objections? Additionally, I wonder if anyone would object to adding Marisa x Mystia and Marisa x Byakuren to this list, even though they are both slightly less popular than Marisa x Koishi, although with about the same popularity.
OBJECTION!!
Um, those sort of pairings with Cirno, Mokou, Mystia and Byakuren... Don't they seem more minor and unnoticable? Because there may be some small similarities/connections between the four and Marisa(likewise with some other characters and Reimu), but they all must be an artist's idea. Fairy Maid 02:59, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
- If that is so, then I guess that there should be no problem with removing Marisa x Koishi from the list, as this is even more minor and unnoticeable than the previously mentioned pairings.192.5.109.49 07:39, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed. As with everything related to the community on this wiki, there should be some significance over it before making it to a page here. A single artist's antics, which stays as such, is hardly significant enough.--Umhyuk 17:02, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
Please explain.
It seems someone has the tendency to post the words "popular" inside many character pairing descriptions with no excuse or reason of how the origin of the pairing may have gained it's roots or how it currently seems.
As far as I see, it seems that someone only posted based on popularity, and it's irritating me. And what happened to Byakuren x Shou? I liked that couple. But because they are losing popularity doesn't mean a removal is in fact needed, they are still an existing couple. And no, this is just a minor complaint, so excuse me if I have annoyed anyone.
99.141.249.157 09:41, February 1, 2010 (UTC)
- I am the one who posted the pairings based on popularity. I did a search for popular pairings and added them to the list. However, I am afraid that I am somewhat unable to explain why those pairings are popular. I will leave it someone else to explain. For example, I have no idea why Alice x Yuka would be popular even though it is. Perhaps somebody else knows. 192.5.109.49 05:22, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
- In fact, I have now marked the ones that really do need more comments with "(More comments are needed here...)." Hopefully, someone will notice and replace them with appropriate comments. 192.5.109.49 05:29, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
- As you see, almost all relationshipping had it's roots. Some came from simple artist ideas that become the meme of the shipping itself. However some aren't. Also not all "Popular" pairings can't be classified as Relationshipping unless there's a description from the artist itself. -Dandan550 04:50, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
Removing minor pairings
Now, there are some pairings here that I feel are much too minor, so I've decided to delete them. Here is the list;
Reimu x Cirno Reimu x Satori Marisa x Koishi Youmu x Rumia Remilia x Flandre Alice x Mystia Satori x Koishi
I feel that the pairings are minor, and the sister pairings are improper. Fairy Maid 22:16, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
- You are correct about Marisa x Koishi being unpopular, and Reimu x Satori is only almost popular. I cannot say anything about Alice x Mystia. However, Satori x Koishi, Remilia x Flandre, and Reimu x Cirno must stay since they are very notable pairings. Youmu x Rumia was added since it was the only existent Rumia pairing. 129.22.125.185 00:02, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
- I can agree with the reasoning on some of those being minor, but the sister pairings shouldn't be removed due to some feeling of being "improper". The the scarlet sister pairing for instance I see almost every time I decide to add a few Flan or Remi pics to my collection. --82.25.232.252 21:09, April 1, 2010 (UTC)
Reimu x Sakuya
I know this pairing is not quite popular but, I was browsing on Danbooru a few months ago and I found some fanarts between these two by three different artists(riku yama, sorairo porin, and satoukibi). When I saw doujin covers by these artists on danbooru, I browse to doujinshi.mugimugi.org to found out there are doujins about these two(at least according to the previews). Then again only the artists( riku yama and sorairo porin) know why make these two a pair. --S0ul66 12:09, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
- I believe it consider a minor pairing for Reimu x Sakuya though it depends if these doujins were ever scan so everyone know about this pairing. Here is an example of ReiSaku or SakuRei: http://www.pixiv.net/tags.php?tag=%E5%92%B2%E9%9C%8A
- The number stands at around 40. That is larger than some of the ones listed in the "General Pairings" section (towards the bottom of the list, at least), but I am not sure if that is enough to add it to this list.--Tosiaki 19:05, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
- To be more precise, this is the exact number that you get for KogaNue: http://www.pixiv.net/search.php?word=%E3%81%93%E3%81%8C%E3%81%AC%E3%81%88&s_mode=s_tag - thus, if you think everything that is at KogaNue and below should be removed, then ReiSaku should not be added. If, however, you think that everything KogaNue and below should stay, then ReiSaku should definitely be added.
- I notice the number on ReiSaku has increase to 54 though I still wonder if it should be on the list or not.
- I think that to take numbers off of only Pixiv could sometimes be misleading if it is just a single artist doing everything. One should do more to check that there actually is slightly more behind it than just a single person. As of now, I am unsure about it--192.5.109.49 12:21, October 21, 2010 (UTC)
- I check again, there at least 4 or 5 artists instead of 1 person.--S0ul23 05:46, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ultimately, I am not sure what the cut-off point should be in terms of popularity. I will leave it to you to make the call for this.--Tosiaki 05:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- I just add the pairing on the relationshipping though the description of the pairing might not be that great unless someone else give a better description than the one I type.--S0ul23 05:58, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Hinanawi Tenshi x Watatsuki no Toyohime?
Peaches, nuff said. I've seen a little bit of art with that; but the thing that probably prevents artists from drawing such a relationship is probably because of all the hate towards the Watatsuki sisters. >_> Should I include it anyway? Its pretty minor, but i've seen relationships which are more minor on the actual list of relationships. Shoukatsuryou 05:56, March 20, 2010 (UTC)
Source on this statement?
"Jokes aside, ZUN himself does acknowledge the idea of his characters getting romantically involved."
Are there any scources on this like interviews or similar publications? I'm rather intrigued by the fact that he would say something official on such shipping matters. An official stance of ZUN himself should definitely be quoted. 93.202.68.16 21:31, July 15, 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. As much as I would love it to be true, I feel it should not be here without a source. I have removed that line until we have some sort of documentation. —Shynaku 23:24, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Reason for the latest additions
SakuAri, of course, has a moderately strong following. However, I admit ignorance as to their reasoning.--192.5.109.49 19:45, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Additionally, here is my reason for re-adding YuukaReimu:
It is true that YuukaReimu is not as big as, say, ReiAri, but at the same time, I would say that it is at least as big as NitoMari (see: http://www.pixiv.net/search.php?word=%E3%81%AB%E3%81%A8%E3%81%BE%E3%82%8A&s_mode=s_tag ) - for this reason, I do think that it is significant enough for this. --192.5.109.49 20:06, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Gothic Mystia and Princess Wriggle
I found some WrigglexMystia... How strange: http://whi.assets.prod.lg1x3z.simplecdn.net/entry/225438
And even exists a Manga for they: http://forum.ani4free.com/showthread.php?t=2935
- However, failing to find any significant results (searching google, pixiv, etc.) when searching for リグミス or ミスリグ, or even searching for both リグル and ミスティア in one query, I think that there isn't that many of it.--192.5.109.49 19:07, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Coupling Polls
I think that polls (however inaccurate) could be a good way to determine the popularity of a given pairing. Here is one: [1]
2020 Revision and a Guide for Future Edits
This page was kind of a disaster. I've cleaned it up recently and made some changes. I hope everyone is ok with them.
• Rewrote many of the descriptions. Many of them had grammatical issues. Some were way too short or non-descriptive, and/or missing key parts of what fuels people to ship them. On the other hand, some were way too long, listing every single interaction between the two characters regardless of actual significance.
• Removed a lot of ships that are rarely seen. I know that this is a bit subjective, but when adding more in the future, remember that this page was never meant to be a list of every possible ship ever. This is supposed to be information on common ships in the fandom. I think I have a pretty good feel for what ships are common, having been active in the Touhou shipping community for the past 9 years, but I know this can still be subjective and also fluctuate a lot over time. I recommend citing pixiv tags if you know how, making sure that they have at the least 100+ works and that you have enough to say about it. And when it comes to MC ships, be a little more picky, since Reimu and Marisa interact with literally every character.
• Added a lot of newer ships. It seemed like this page hadn't gotten any love post-TD. Borderline canon stuff like TenShion wasn't even on here. However, be careful when adding stuff from games that were just released. When a new game comes out, the fandom sometimes temporarily latches onto a ship before actually having a feel for the characters, and then when the dust settles, people never touch the ship again. I'd recommend giving it at least half a year to a year before adding things from the most recent game.
• Renamed some of the old sections. "Main Character Harems" was changed to "Main Character Pairings." Since they're usually not shipped as part of a harem, it's kind of an odd choice of words. "Rape and Domination" was changed to "Rival Pairings," considering many of the ships in that section are never or rarely ever depicted in the context of rape or domination. (Stuff like KogaSana or CirSuwa was there, for example.) Not to mention, it's a pretty extremely distasteful choice of words to use on a SFW page on a SFW Wiki about a SFW game series.
• Reordered most ships. There didn't seem to be much of a set order going on. I decided to go based off of appearance order based on the order of the characters in the most commonly used Japanese name of each ship, inside their respective sections. So for example, YamaMedi would be before YamaKisu, because Medicine appears earlier in the series than Kisume. IchiFuto would be before MuraIchi, because Ichirin appears earlier in the series than Murasa.
• Removed the weird taglines that used to be there for some of the ships. Let's be honest, those were embarrassingly outdated.
• Updated Pixiv tags. A lot of ships were actually missing the link to their Pixiv tag. When adding ships in the future, please make sure to include it so we can keep it consistent.
