Concept

Name

YuugenMagan can be written 幽玄魔眼 or 幽幻魔眼, and it means "Deep (幽玄) Magic () Eye ()". It can also mean "Elegant and Simple Evil Eye" which can mean this character was a simple design.

Appearance

Shown on its sprite, YuuganMagan is a hovering set of five independently-moving eyes, connected by electricity and surrounded by strange markings. If you look at the center, you can almost see a character in a kimono in the area where YuugenMagan's "energy" meets. It can be suggested that that is it's source

Additional Information

Trivia

  • YuugenMagan's stage boss has the most hit boxes in the series that affects the same health bar, coming second would be the Prismriver Sisters in Perfect Cherry Blossom.
  • The kanji for the name of one of Yukari's spell cards in Touhou Hisoutensoku (Demon's Eye "Laplace's Demon") is nearly identical to this character's name (compare 魔眼「ラプラスの魔」 of Yukari's spellcard to 幽玄魔眼(ゆうげんまがん), note the two characters before the parenthesis/bracket in both). Furthermore, it is an attack that summons multiple floating phantasmal eyes to attack the enemy, making it possible that this is a reference of some sort to YuugenMagan.

Fanon

  • YuugenMagan's gender is unknown, but it's speculated that s/he is a female because of the figure in the center.
  • YuugenMagan has been drawn as a human-like character in some fanart, mainly being depicted in pure gold.
  • YuugenMagan's name can be a typo for many western fans as they will usually put an 'e' instead of an 'a'. e.g. "YuugenMagen" or rather rarely "Yuugen Magen".
