The battle system is a turn-based battle system.
Weapon
You can use one of your two equipped weapons, either it's standard attack or one of it techniques.
There are 6 categories of weapons, each category can use a certain amount of techniques (except the Staffs).
Each category carries one physical attribute.

Short distance weapons:
*Sword - Slash
*Spear - Thrust
*Axe - Crush
*Staff - Crush
Long distance weapons:
*Bow - Thrust
*Gun - Crush
By using the weapons in battle, the attributes for each character may rise.
(The attack must not be necessarily used, but only chosen is enough.)
The higher the attribute, the stronger and faster the weapon.
Depending on your attribute value, you may learn a technique in battle.
By performing a attack (which does not necessarily needs to be a standard attack) with your weapon (even if it is a counter attack), there is a chance that you will instead perform a new technique.
Henceforth, your character will be able to use that technique.

There is no particular order in which your character will learn the techniques, therefore
one character might have learned Full Power Cut, while the other still haven't learned the technique
despite having much higher sword attribute stat.

As already mentioned above, the staff cannot learn techniques, and though it counts as a physical weapon, it attacks
is counted as magical, carrying the neutral Magic element.

If you are very lucky, you can also learn a new Last Word.

Magic/Skills
In general you use magic/skills by using your "Doppels". Note that the attack of the Doppels can be either magical or physical, depending on the attack.
There are two kinds of Doppels, "Main Doppel" and "Sub Doppel".
The Main Doppels can be achieved through either story or finding in gaps.
The Sub Doppels are certain enemies, which, when defeated, might join your party. (Not all enemies can become Sub Doppels.)
Each character can have one Main Doppel and up to three Sub Doppels.
There are a total of 6 elements.
*Fire
*Thunder
*Water
*Light
*Darkness
*Magic
By using one of these elements, the "Land" will change.
The Land shows fire, thunder and water in the outer circle, and light and darkness inside the circle as ying-yang orb.
The higher the Land for a certain element is, the stronger that element becomes and vice-versa.
Using fire, thunder or water, will increas the used element and decrease the other two elements Land.
(E.g. using fire increases fire-land, but decreases thunder- and water-land.)
The same goes for light and darkness, using light increases light-land and decreases dark-land, and vice-versa.
The Magic element, is considered as a neutral element, it is not affected by any Land.

All the Doppels have their own level, thus you learn new skills through leveling up the Doppels.
Doppels also have passive effects, which they will also gain more when they level-up.

Just like each character can rise her physical attribute stats,
one can also rises one magical elemental stats.
(Just like the weapon-attributes, just choosing an attack may result the stat to rise, even if the attack has not been performed anymore in battle.)
The higher the elemental stat, the stronger and faster that certain element.

There are 6 Main Doppels categories:
*adjacent type
*long distance type
*magic type
*recovery type
*special

Other commands
There's a another battle option called Secret Strategies.
Depending on the situation, it can contains up to three options.
*Changing Main Doppels
*Last Word
*Defend

Changing Main Doppel is not possible for a character if any of these conditions are met:
*The Doppel you want to switch is or has already been used in this battle. (You can see this from the "already (used)" mark.)
*The Doppel you want to switch to has been defeated.
*The Doppel you want to switch to, is not in the right category.
*You have already switched the Main Doppel in this turn.
If you want to switch Main Doppel, you are only allowed to switch in certain categories:
*Long Distance type and recovery type are allowed to switch among each other.
*Adjacent type and special are allowed to switch among each other.
*Magic type can not switch with another category, but only magic type.

Last Word is an option which may activate during battle.
If a character attacks or is being attack a "Last Word Charge" might occur, giving you the option
to use a Last Word.

Defending does reduce the damage of the enemies' next attack, and also recovers 1MP.
The defend option can be also accessed with the Y-Button

MP, POW and Delay
For certain skills or magic you must use MP or POW or both.
MP is a stat which each character has her own.
1MP is always recovered at the beginning of the characters turn.
You can also recover one additional MP by defending.
MP always fully recovers after battle.
Using a Doppel reduces the MP of the equipped character, since Doppels do not have MPs.

POW is a value which can be seen as a Group-MP.
All characters and Doppels are using the same POW pool.
POW will not be recovered at the end of the battle, but you will gain
some POW at the end of the battle.
Outside battle you can fully recover your POW at "Ying-yang orbs" or "Fantasy Hiemata Monuments",
though you must pay with points.
(The points you need to pay are equal to POW you need so that you have full POW.)
At the beginning of the game you can only carry 1000 POW, but through the game you may find
items which increases you maximam POW capacity.

Delay is a time window one needs to wait in order to use the skill/magic/technique again.
One delay value corresponds one turn.
Though all delays are set to zero after battle, the delay values of Main Doppels will stay,
except by using a "Ying-yang orb" or a "Fantasy Hiemata Monument" outside battle.
Also, the delay value only decreases if the Main Doppel is participating in battle, meaning being equipped during battle.

After Battle
When you have defeated all enemies the battle is over and all your Doppels and your party will gain experience points.
Note that all your character share the same level and the same amount of experience points, thus having a party-level.
You will also gain points and may also receive item(s). You will not receive POW, the result window simply shows you how many POW you used in this battle (first value), and how many POW you have now (second value).
Also, if there was an enemy which can become a Sub Doppel and which you do not have as Sub Doppel yet, the enemy will ask
to join you. (Press the A-Button to accept or the B-Button to decline.)
(The feature that enemies join your party, is only unlocked at a certain point of the storyline)

If all of your characters have been defeated, you lose.
A character can be defeated when it's HP reaches 0, when that happens, the equipped Main Doppel also gets defeated.
Another way to get defeated is by attacks which causes "instant death" or "remove".
"Remove" simply removes you from battle, your Main Doppel will be unequipped afterwards though, but is not defeated.

Different kinds of damage
Nightmare of Rebellion uses a multiply damage system.
When one is attacked, there are several numbers shown.
The small black numbers are the indivdual damage values and the big silver number represents the total damage.
*Crictical: when the small black numbers have red strokes, it is a critical attack.
*Weakness: when the big silver number flashes, it is an attack with weakness bonus.
*Swipe: when the big silver number is orange, it is an attack with swipe bonus.

Enemy Types
Each enemy is another type, called species in the game and they are the main key for swipe effects.
There are only a total of 13 enemy species, since there are fewer species like in the predecessors, many enemy species have turned into another. So for those who are used to the old species, always take a look at the enemy's species.
The icons also are graphic-wised greatly improved.
Note that also your characters have a species, depending on which Main Doppel one has equipped.
Also, same species often have the same weaknesses / resistances, but keep in mind that there are still a lot of differences,
so always check your monster list.

Here are the 13 species (ordered like in the monster list) along with their most common weaknesses / resistances (if none is given, it is either none or varying):
? || ||
The last species can be actually considered a "no species", since there is no swipe-effect for "?-Species".
Also, the "?-Species" has no real name, unlike the others.

Stats
In Nightmare of Rebellion, each character can carry in each hand either a weapon or a shield.
Even though the hands are called "dominant hand" and "reverse hand", the stats do not differ in each hand.

There are two kind of stats. The usual stats, known from the predecessors, a.k.a. abilty:
*HP (HitPoints, if it reaches 0, your charater is defeated)
*MP (MagicPoints, necessary for most skills)
*STR (Strength, increases physical attack)
*VIT (Vitality, increases physical defense)
*DEX (Dexterity, increases induction and accuracy)
*AGI (Agility, increases speed and evasion)
*INT (Intelligence, increases magic attack)
*POT (Potential, increases resistance and critical rate)

*attack
*accuracy
*avoidance
*defense
*magic defense
*induction
*resistance

The other stats are the number of attacks stats, these stats determines how many times the value is multiplied.
*close attack (Determines number of physical attacks of short distance weapons.)
*range attack (Determines number of physical attacks of long distance weapons.)
*magic attack (Determines number of magical attacks.)
*healing magic (Determines number of healing values.)
*offensive support (Determines power of attack which inreases stats.)
*defensive support (Determines power of attack which decreases stats.)
*avoidance (Determines the number of opponent attacks you can avoid.)

Each character has her own number of attack stats, you can see it when you unequip your Main Doppel.
If you equip your Main Doppel, your number of attack stats will be changed, and the change is always the same for all characters.
You could say that, by equippind a Main Doppel, you use the Main Doppel's number of attack stats, thus the stats are the same for each character. The maximum value for a number of attack stat depends on your party's level.
(e.g. on lv. 28 the maximum value is still 5, but on lv. 32 the maximum is 6.)

If your party reaches a certain level, your character's number of attack stats will rise, at the same time, the lower number of attack stats of your Main Doppels will rise by one, except when it is already at it's maximum.
The maximum varies on each Doppel.
Icewave21https://en.touhouwiki.net/index.php?title=Talk:The_Nightmare_of_Rebellion/Gameplay/BattleSystem&diff=329689Talk:The Nightmare of Rebellion/Gameplay/BattleSystem2014-10-31T19:40:04Z
Icewave21: Created page with "The actual game guide says that double wings are actually '異神' rather than '魔神'.
The actual game guide says that double wings are actually '異神' rather than '魔神'. I.E. the game manual on the 'バトル' tab. So I'm making the change, although I don't know what 異神 is supposed to be, I'm assuming it's 'foreign god', because that's what the english-translation team on Devil of Decline decided on. --Icewave21 (talk) 19:40, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Icewave21https://en.touhouwiki.net/index.php?title=Impossible_Spell_Card&diff=319354Impossible Spell Card2014-05-14T07:37:27Z
Icewave21:

is a danmaku game and the 14.3rd official installment of the Touhou Project, featuring Seija Kijin as the protagonist. The game was released at Reitaisai 11. As the title implies, it is a spinoff game consisting mostly of (near-)impossible-to-beat spell cards.

Gameplay
The player controls Seija Kijin, who's using a total of nine different "cheat" items to survive and clear the spell cards. Two items can be selected before the spell card, and has a maximum amount of uses during the card.
Each item also has a separate, passive effect when equipped as a sub-item.

The items are:
*Bloodthirsty Yin-Yang Orb, allowing her to teleport,
**Its passive is decreasing her hitbox.
*Tengu's Toy Camera, allowing her to clear bullets using photographs,
**Its passive is increasing her movement speed.
*Gap Folding Umbrella, allowing her to teleport to the other side of the screen (vertical and horizontal),
**When used as a sub-item, it allows 3 uses of itself (this takes priority over the main-item if pressing against the wall).
*A Miracle Mallet Replica, allowing her to swipe the space in front of her, dealing damage to the boss if she is close enough,
**Its passive is increasing the amount of times the main-item can be used (or in the case of the Tengu's Toy Camera, Four-Foot Magic Bomb, and Ghastly Send-Off Lantern, it increases their proficiency).
*a Substitute Jizo, allowing her to survive one hit,
**When used as a sub-item, it allows 1 uses of itself.
*a Cursed Decoy Doll, allowing her to lead aimed bullets away,
**Its passive is increasing bullet spread, but individual bullet damage is lowered.
*a Four-Foot Magic Bomb, allowing her to clear bullets,
**Its passive is whenever she uses the main-item, bullets around her are destroyed.
*a Ghastly Send-Off Lantern, allowing her to become invincible for a limited amount of time,
**Its passive is allowing item use in the same way of counter-bombing.
*and a Nimble Fabric, allowing her to become invincible for a short amount of time, during which she can't move or shoot,
**When used as a sub-item, it allows 2 uses of itself, but only when the main-item is unusable.

Name and Concept
This is the first official Touhou Project work that does not bear the kanji Touhou in its title. The Japanese part of the title starts with "danmaku", referring to the main theme of the game, while Amanojaku refers to the playable character's species: Seija Kijin.

Story
Following the events of Double Dealing Character, Seija Kijin has become a wanted amanojaku in Gensokyo. There has been signs saying that whoever captures her wins an reward. Since Seija has become a rebel, youkai have decided to use spell cards that's considered impossible to dodge, but Seija is determined to not give up and decides to cheat using the said items.

Later on however, the tengu have taken notice and have written up a newspaper about her mischief, which causes stronger youkai and humans to try and capture her.

Music
The soundtrack of Impossible Spell Card features a total of nine tracks. Four of these were directly taken from previous games, all used during dialogue within a spell card. The other themes, aside from the title screen, play during any other spell card.

The title screen, like any other, uses the motif from "Theme of Eastern Story", from the CD Akyu's Untouched Score vol.5.

Press
The game was announced by ZUN on April 12th, 2014, near the end of the internet broadcast "Chotto Summit ~ The Drinking Party of Indie Game Developers", showcasing the promotional video later uploaded at Youtube. A few weeks before the release, ZUN posted some info about the game and it's release on his blog.
is a danmaku game and the 14.3rd official installment of the Touhou Project, featuring Seija Kijin as the protagonist.

The items are:
*Bloodthirsty Yin-Yang Orb, allowing her to teleport,
Its passive is decreasing her hitbox.
*Tengu's Toy Camera, allowing her to clear bullets using photographs,
Its passive is increasing her movement speed,
*Gap Folding Umbrella, allowing her to teleport to the other side of the screen (vertical and horizontal),
When used as a sub-item, it allows 3 uses of itself,
*A Miracle Mallet Replica, allowing her to swipe the space in front of her, dealing damage to the boss if she is close enough,
Its passive is increasing the amount of times the main item can be used(or in the case of the Tengu's Toy Camera, Four-Foot Magic Bomb, and Ghastly Send-Off Lantern, it increases their proficiency),
*a Substitute Jizo, allowing her to survive one hit,
When used as a sub-item, it allows 1 uses of itself,
*a Cursed Decoy Doll, allowing her to lead aimed bullets away,
Its passive is increasing bullet spread, but damage at all distances stays roughly the same[test],
*a Four-Foot Magic Bomb, allowing her to clear bullets,
Its passive is whenever she uses the main item, bullets around her are destroyed,
*a Ghastly Send-Off Lantern, allowing her to become invincible for a limited amount of time,
Its passive is allowing item use in the same way of counter-bombing,
*and a Nimble Fabric, allowing her to become invincible for a short amount of time, during which she can't move or shoot.

Each item also has a separate, passive effect when equipped as a sub-item.

First area
Upon entering the first area of Makai 1, you'll have two portals to choose from for proceeding to the next area: The one on the west is useless for now. Before going on to the portals, look for two treasure chests in the area: One in the west, another in the southeast. Proceed to the portal in the east.

Second area
Look for a meal event item in the northwest and two chests, one in the northwest and the other in the southwest. There is nothing more you can do here so go back to the first area.

First area
Go to the portal in the west.

Third area
Look for four chests, one in the north, another in the southwest, and the third and the fourth, one of which is a silver chest, are on top of the cliff that you can access via a flight of stairs. Proceed to the portal in the north.

Fourth area
Look for two chests, one in the northwest and the other in the east. Proceed to the next portal.

Fifth area
This is where the route ends pretty much. Enjoy your slingshot item from the silver chest.
is a traditional turn-based RPG released at Comiket 81. It is much like The Genius of Sappheiros, its predecessor from the same creator. Its theme song is loosely an arrangement of ja Chinese Tea, the stage theme song of Meiling, one of the starring characters of the game.

Gameplay
The gameplay is much similar to its predecessor The Genius of Sappheiros, with slight differences, such as the absence of spell cards, lives, bombs, ability growth or commanders, and the introduction of shikigami. A maximum of three shikigami can be assigned to one playable character, and each are responsible for their own variety of casting spells. Excluding those who act as playable characters, every single canon Touhou character up to Double Spoiler is present within the game as a shikigami. Up to five characters can be used to form a party set to a specific battle formation. As the characters progressively win battles, EXP is gained, which contributes towards levelling up, which increases their stats. Shikigami gain EXP along with playable characters, as long as they are equipped. Characters may learn new abilities at random in the middle of battle, while shikigami gain them randomly when leveling up.

Story
Yet another incident occurs in Gensokyo, where humans and youkai alike have begun to mysteriously disappear. The player can select one of four characters, namely Reimu, Yukari, Byakuren or Meiling, and embark on a journey to resolve the incident.

Festival
Festival is the expansion to DoD that was released in Reitaisai 9, featuring a higher level cap, new shikigamis, new playable characters, a bestiary, rebalancing, more weapon skills and all the post-game goodness you'd expect a RPG to have. For some reason nobody's edited this page yet so here's a reminder for someone to do it.
