Maihana Soumakyou: Uniting Barrage Action (舞華蒼魔鏡 Uniting Barrage Action, lit. "Flower Dance of Magic Blue Mirror") is a Horizontal Danmaku Shooting Game, developed and published by souvenir circ. Originally released for PC on August 11, 2012, at Comiket 82. An enhanced version was released for PlayStation 4, as part of Play, Doujin!, on January 25, 2018 in Japan published by Unties.

The PlayStation 4 version was later localized under the title of Touhou Azure Reflections and was released on May 15, 2018 for both North America and Europe, with a 30% discount on the first two weeks after the game's launch. The Nintendo Switch version was later announced with a worldwide release date of August 30, 2018. On September 20, 2019 enhanced version arrived on Steam platform for PC users, with a 30% discount on first week after the game's launch.

The latest version of the game, 1.20, features a seven stage main game, Extra stage plus a Boss Rush.

Synopsis

As the Scarlet Mist incident mysteriously returned, Reimu and Marisa went on their own ways to try and resolve the incident.

Gameplay

Azure Reflections plays differently from most of current Touhou games due to being a horizontal shooter. The gameplay revolves around using special system - Danmaku Rush - with which you can clear enemies' bullets and is necessary to finish bosses' attacks and Lily White/Black, which appear periodically throughout the stages. With more bullets cleared it becomes stronger, which is crucial for effective boss defeating.

Player can also release a barrier, with a cost at 40 power (power caps at 200). On getting hit, player gets stunned, where he can't do anything but barely move. During that period (around 2 seconds) another hit results in a life loss.

The game contains four regular stages and three "extra" stages, situated between regular ones. In order to successfully clear the game, player has to get through all of stages, capture at least 50% of spell cards on any of three regular stages and 3rd "extra" stage boss - requirement for respectively "extra" stages and Final Stage - and not timeout any of them.

With successful clear player unlocks 3rd playable - Cirno. Clearing a game with her unlocks Extra mode featuring Flandre Scarlet, while beating Extra mode brings you another challenge - Boss Rush mode. Clearing Hard mode on the other hand unlocks Lunatic.

Clearing game on chosen difficulty enables "Ascetic Mode" for that and previous difficulties. The mode disable stun feature, meaning instant death on taking hit, and introduces additional two attacks for every boss in the game.

Characters

Similar to various fangames, all of the characters are voiced with official seiyuus, with others reprising their previous voice roles, like Rina Sato, who voiced Reimu in fangames like Koumajou Densetsu II: Stranger's Requiem.
