I see no reason to be in a hurry to vote on logos when there's not that many proposed yet as far as I've seen. This is a wiki, after all. About the yin yang, I think it's a bit too trite, Hakurei orbs aside. It's vague. As for the current logo, I do like the brackets, though I don't think the logo itself is the best thing we could have. Simplicity and transparencies are fairly important I'd say, to mesh well. I've considered that maybe the character should reflect the concept of a wiki. Alice loves books and all, but I don't really see her as fitting in that respect. Other possibilities include Keine (history "editing" and teacher), or Patchouli (obvious library aspect, NEET-ly trapped in the wiki net). Akyu, eh. Rinnosuke, perhaps, but he's more interested in real-world things, no? ...and, you know, doesn't "fit." Not sure how feasible it is, but a changing logo (per page load) between a few different relevant and big name characters would actually be a lot more awesome I think, with maybe small chance for lessers. -[[User:StrikerX22|StrikerX22]] 16:01, 30 November 2010 (PST)

Logo Discussion

Personally, I'm partial to the current logo. It's minimalistic, appealing, relevant, and objective all at the same time: Teacher Alice between two pairs of brackets which represent the Wiki internal link syntax. I'm not against a new logo however. It's just the ones proposed don't appeal to me. Something I liked about various NIWA logos were that they included recurring themes throughout their respective series, such as typesetting and logos/symbols. Just posting what I, myself, like in a logo. jigglyppuff8 Talk Contribs 23:34, 26 November 2010 (PST)

Keeping that in mind. TTEchidna 01:16, 27 November 2010 (PST)

The images here seem a bit small - isn't the current logo a bit larger? The text "Touhou Wiki" is barely visible in both logos. I prefer the current Alice logo to the proposed one - maybe a little too much action in there (and I suppose I'm partial to minimalism as well). The Reimu and Marisa one is interesting (I like it), but I think it'd be better without the English writing, which seems a bit out of place. Pufferfish101 01:47, 27 November 2010 (PST)

I really, really like having the sets of double brackets in the logo, so I definitely prefer this one. That said, even though I'm the great Alice fanboy, I'm not averse to a logo change either - as long as it's a good suggestion that incorporates the double bracket design. Since Keine is a historian/teacher, and Akyu is the record-everything-ever person, one of them could be a good idea. Especially Akyu. She's like a wiki on her own. KennyMan666 17:07, 27 November 2010 (PST)

I'd say the Alice one seems better... If the "Touhou Project" words can be a little bigger than that. Some other suggestions, other than Akyu or Keine, would be Aya or Rinnosuke. Deathsoul4 19:20, 27 November 2010 (PST)

I have to agree with Jigglypuff8. There's nothing wrong with the current Alice sensei logo, but if we are going to change it then the new one needs to be simple too. I did check few other wikis to see what kind of logos do they have. Mabinogi World Wiki, Guild Wars Wiki and UESP Wiki all had very simple design. If someone is good with text effects then pure text logo could work too. Examples: Dragon Age wiki and Diablo Wiki. Dodgeball 00:51, 28 November 2010 (PST)

Out of everything suggested, I would still prefer the current logo. The text in the yin-yang and the Mari/Reimu one both look horribly out of place. The new Alice one is a good candidate, but it's still basically the same as the current, just with more stuff added, making it look busier and more cluttered. Unless someone pulls something awesome out in the next few days, I vote to keep the current one. --Spooty Biscuit 09:30, 28 November 2010 (PST)

True, I made the orb too big, I should have made more space for the text. But that is easy to fix. Dodgeball 19:59, 29 November 2010 (PST)

I see no reason to be in a hurry to vote on logos when there's not that many proposed yet as far as I've seen. This is a wiki, after all. About the yin yang, I think it's a bit too trite, Hakurei orbs aside. It's vague. -StrikerX22 16:01, 30 November 2010 (PST)

Dodgeball, you wouldn't happen to have a straight SVG version of your logo, without the text? Or some other very high resolution bitmap version? I'm going to use it for a language selector page.
