Composer's Greeting

おおよそ始めまして、ZUNです。
聴いていると変な霊が集まってくる様なCDを目指しました。
ジャケットと曲でワンセットになる様に試みてますので、余裕があったら、曲に合わせてコメントを読んでみて下さい。
ちなみに、除霊は自費でお願いします。 		Nice to probably meet you. I'm ZUN.
I was going for a feeling like that of strange ghosts gathering around when you listen to this CD.
I decided to try combining the songs with the booklet, if you have the time, please read the comments while listening.
By the way, pay all the charge for dispelling the ghosts by yourself, please.

Story

そういえばこれ、誰のお墓かしら？ Now that you mention it, I wonder whose grave this is?

 夜のデンデラ野を逝く Passing on Through the Dendera Fields in the Night

「そう、間違いなくこれよ。」
蓮子はそう言って写真付きのノートを見せた。
肌寒くなってきた秋の夜にわざわざ出掛けて来たんだから、何か見つからないと困る。
でも正直、墓荒らしの真似は避けたかったわ。

"Yes, I'm sure this is it."
Renko said, and showed me a notebook with some photos.
We came all the way here on a chilly autumn night, so it would be unfortunate if we couldn't find anything.
Though, honestly, I hoped to avoid acting like grave-robbers.

 少女秘封倶楽部 Girls' Hifuu Club

「メリー、蓮台野にある入り口を見に行かない？」
蓮子がその話を持ちかけてきたのは二日前の事だった。
私達秘封倶楽部は、メンバーは二人だけど、良くあるただの霊能者サークル。
霊能者サークルだけど、普通みたいに除霊や降霊とかは好きじゃないの。
周りからはまともな霊能活動した事ない不良サークル、と思われてるけど……実はね。

"Merry, do you want to go see the entrance in Rendaino?"
It was two days ago that she made the proposition.
The Hifuu Club, which only has two members, is a common, ordinary spirit medium club.
Yes, it's a group for mediums, but we don't perform any of the usual activities of such groups, like seances or exorcisms.
For that reason, we're considered a defective club by others, but the truth is...

 東方妖々夢 ～ Ancient Temple Eastern Ghostly Dream ~ Ancient Temple

「蓮台野の入り口って、何？　蓮子。」
私は蓮台野に入り口があるなんて聞いたこと無かったし、余りにも唐突だったのでそれしか言えなかったわ。
「まあ、見てよ。」
蓮子は古い寺院が写っている写真を差し出した。見た事も無い寺院だった。
「これが冥界よ。」

"What is this entrance in Rendaino, Renko?"
I had never heard of there being any such thing in Rendaino, and she asked me so suddenly I couldn't think of anything else to say.
"Well, just take a look."
Renko handed me a photo of an ancient temple. It was a temple I had never seen before.
"This is the Netherworld."

 古の冥界寺 Ancient Temple in the Netherworld

「なんで冥界の写真なんかあるのよ。」
「私には裏表ルートがあるのよ。メリー。」
どういうルートかさっぱり分からなかったけど、どうせ死体相手の念写かなんかだろう。
「で、こっちの写真。山門の奥を見て……」

"How is it that you have a photo of the Netherworld?"
"I've got a back and forth route, you know, Merry."
I hadn't the faintest idea what sort of route it could be, but I figured that it was probably something like spirit photography with a participating corpse.
"Then, in this picture, if you look past the temple gate..."

 幻視の夜 ～ Ghostly Eyes Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes

「ほら、門のここ。向こう側。明らかに現世でしょ？」
指差された場所には、夜の平野、そして、一つの墓石が写っていた。
空気の色が違う。確かにそれは私たちの世界の色……。
私は山門は三門って漢字が正しいのよ、と言おうか迷っていた。

"Look, right by this gate. On the other side of it, doesn't it obviously look just like our world?"
The area she pointed at showed a nighttime field with a single gravestone visible.
The color of the atmosphere there was different from the rest of the picture. Certainly, it was the color of our world's...
Also, I wondered if I should tell her that the correct term is Sanmon gate rather than temple gate.

 魔術師メリー Merry the Magician

そう、秘封倶楽部の裏の顔は張り巡らされた結界を暴くサークルなの。
均衡を崩す恐れがあるから禁止されてるんだけどね。
でも、私は結界の境目が見えるの。何もしてなくても見えてしまうのよ。
見えてしまうんだから不可抗力よね。

The truth of the Hifuu Club is that we are a group that exists in order to expose the boundaries that surround this world.
As there is the fear that it will upset the world's natural balance, however, such things are forbidden.
Despite that, I can see the borders of these boundaries. I can see them without needing to do a single thing.
I just see them, so it's an inevitability, isn't it?

 月の妖鳥、化猫の幻 Uncanny Bird of the Moon, Illusion of the Bakeneko

そう言えば、蓮子は『蓮台野の入り口』って言ってたわ。
この写真から入り口の場所が分かったのかしら？
「簡単よ。ここに月と星が写っているのが見えるじゃない。」
蓮子は星の光で今の時間が分かり、月を見ただけで今居る場所が分かるらしい。
蓮子はいつも私の眼の事を気持ち悪いって言うけど、蓮子の眼の方が気持ち悪いと思うわ。

That reminds me, Renko mentioned "an entrance in Rendaino".
Did she manage to use this photograph to find out where it was?
"It's simple. You can see that the moon and the stars are visible in this photograph, can't you?"
According to Renko, she can tell what time it is by the light of the stars and her location by looking at the moon.
Renko is always telling me that my eyes are creepy. I think her eyes are the creepy ones.

 過去の花 ～ Fairy of Flower Flower of Past Days ~ Fairy of Flower

彼岸花って気持ち悪いよね。私、あの花嫌いなの。子供の時からそうだったわ。
蓮台野で一番彼岸花が多く生えているお墓が入り口よ。何故か突然そう言ってしまった。
蓮子は、メリーが言うなら間違いない、と信じて疑わなかった。
勝手に目的地にめぼしが付けられた。

Red spider lilies are so creepy! I hate those flowers. I have ever since I was a child.[1]
"The entrance is at the gravestone where red spider lilies grow thickest in Rendaino." For some reason, that phrase suddenly escaped my lips.
Renko believed me entirely, saying that since it was me saying it, it was certain that it was true.
It seemed that she had chosen our destination of her own accord.

 魔法少女十字軍 Magical Girl Crusade

ついに、蓮台野結界穴捜索決行の日が来た！
人気の無い夜が最適、という事で夜に出発する事になった。
勇ましく出発したまでは良かったんだけど、蓮台野に着いた時、急に冷静になってしまったわ。
そう言えば、蓮台野って墓地だったわね……。

Finally, the time to carry out our Rendaino barrier-hole-exploration trip has come!
There's rarely a sign of life there at night, making it the ideal choice, so with that in mind we decided to depart for it in the evening.
We were in pleasantly high spirits when we departed, but by the time we arrived at Rendaino, we swiftly became quite grave.
Speaking of which, Rendaino is a graveyard...

 少女幻葬 ～ Necro-Fantasy A Maiden's Illusionary Funeral ~ Necro-Fantasy

蓮子言う通り目的の墓石はこれだろうけど、何も見えない。
蓮子は私をせかす。私は墓を弄ってみたり、卒塔婆を抜いてみたり色々やってみた。
蓮子は空を見ながら、2時27分41秒、と呟いている。気持ち悪い。
結局、墓荒らしの真似をしているのは私だけか。
墓石は重たくて回すのがやっとなんだけど……。
「2時30分ジャスト！」
墓石を4分の1回転させたその時、秋だと言うのに目の前に一面桜の世界が広がった。

I suppose that this gravestone is the one Renko said was our goal, but I can't see anything in particular.
Renko hurried me on. I tried tampering with the grave, pulling up the wooden grave tablets, and all sorts of things.
She looked up at the sky and murmured "2:27:41". How creepy...
Ultimately, it seems like I'm the only one here acting like a grave-robber.
The gravestone was heavy, but I finally managed to turn it a bit...
"2:30 sharp!" she said just as I turned the stone by a quarter-rotation.
Even though it was autumn, a world of cherry blossoms spread out before our eyes.

 幻想の永遠祭 Eternal Festival of Illusions

紅葉ももう終わろうとしていた。
我が不良サークルはまだ細々と続いている。
夜になると空を見て時間を呟く癖のある相棒は、私との待ち合わせに遅れていた。
「遅くなってごめん！」
「2分19秒遅刻。」
相棒は写真を取り出し、いつもの様に語り始めた。
「そんな事よりメリー、博麗神社にある入り口を見に行かない？」

The autumn leaves have already fallen. Our defective club continues to scrape along.
My accomplice, who has a habit of looking up at the night sky and muttering the time, is running late for our appointment.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!"
"You're 2 minutes and 19 seconds late."
My partner took out a picture and started talking as usual.
"Never mind that, Merry, why don't we go see the entrance at the Hakurei Shrine?"
