  1. The usage of ユーマ (yūma), as opposed to うま (uma, horse) is a pun on UMA (short for Unidentifiable Mysterious Animal), which is the Japanese term for cryptids; the whole phrase of じゃじゃユーマ (Ja ja UMA) is itself an additional pun on the slang term じゃじゃうま (Ja ja ūma, restless horse), which refers to hyperactive, uncontrollable people.
  2. 悪七兵衛 (Akushichibyōe, 'the wicked seventh palace guard') was a reverent title used by Taira no Kagekiyo, Kiyome's historical basis, according to the events in the Heike Monogatari.
