The way it's used matches 怪談; "ghost story" or "supernatural tale". 怪奇 could among other things be "the bizarre", "the strange", "the mysterious"; I'm opting for "Fancy", from the idiom "flight of fancy", meaning something fantastical, imaginary - it matches the motifs of the series in general.
