Notes
- ↑ All of Buddhist cosmology is encompassed by the Great Trichiliocosm (三千大千世界, trisāhasra-mahāsāhasra-lokadhātu). A chiliocosm (from Greek chilioi "thousand" + kosmos "world") is 1000 world systems of the Indian cosmological sense. A thousand chiliocosms become a medium dichiliocosm, and a thousand dichiliocosms become a great trichiliocosm. It is said that a single supreme nirmanakaya buddha has mastery over the trichiliocosm.
- ↑ Five Element Mountain (五行山 is the mountain which Sun Wukong is sealed into by Buddha after Buddha tricked him on the palm.)
- ↑ A combination of Angiras (sometimes rendered as 'Angirasa'), one of the most important rishi of Hindu and Buddhist lore, and "Veda" (meaning 'knowledge'), the main scripture of Hinduism. The Veda composed by Angiras and fellow rishi Atharvan is most commonly referred to as the Atharvaveda, but some sources briefly refer to it as the 'Angirasaveda' as well. (Example)
