Icarus (イカロス Ikarosu) is the final boss of the Extra Stage in Banshiryuu. She is, in reality, a really powerful being from Mars.

Concept

Icarus on the Production Staff Screen.

Name

The name Icarus in Greek mythology is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus who helped him attempt to escape from Crete by creating him some wings made from feathers and wax. He ignored instructions not to fly too close to the sun, and the wax melted for him to fall to his death. Icarus is a reference to this. Icarus is also a name for a male, but Icarus is a female.

Appearance

In Banshiryuu's official art, Icarus has long straight blue hair that is shown on the production staff screen and is shown to have her hair held upwards with a long red ribbon in her portrait. She has dark-blue eyes, blue eyebrows, and a mark on her forehead. She wears a purple shirt with a brooch necklace around her neck with a green gen and what appears to be orange and red short sleeves on her shirt. She also wears red fingerless gloves with a grey stripe at the end and red shows with a grey stripe on top. She has a golden belt with purple ribbons attached to it and what appears to be a long blue ribbon behind her. She also seems to wear some dark-blue tights underneath a orange skirt with a white skirt underneath, both without a front(?).

She has white angel wings and two runic, flaming swords with runic symbols. Her right sword is silver and it has a brown handle. It is encrusted with a golden crest with a green gem in the middle. Her left sword is golden and it has a dark-brown handle. It is encrusted with a dark-brown crest with a purple gem in the middle. She also seems to have golden animal-like ears.

Abilities

The kinds of natural powers Icarus has are currently unknown, but she seems to able to fly independently and travel at high-speeds like Aya Shameimaru. She is also able to turn into a ball of light similar to Yuuka Kazami and is able to create fire with her flaming sword.

Story

Banshiryuu
