"Thanks to the physical traits of the inchlings, no matter what we do, we're powerless. There's almost nobody who wants to ally with us. We're just used, then thrown away."
Shinmyoumaru Sukuna (Double Dealing Character Stage 6.)

Inchlings (小人 Kobito, lit. "small person") are a species of tiny people in Japanese folklore, comparable to the English Tom Thumb or the Lilliputians of Gulliver's Travels. According to the "Izumo Tradition", it is said that an inchling was part of creating the Japanese Islands along with Ōnamuji (Ōkuninushi). The most famous inchling is Issun-boushi (一寸法師, "One-Inch Boy"), from whom the species derives its common English name.

Inchling in Touhou

An unknown number of inchlings live in the Shining Needle Castle, including Shinmyoumaru Sukuna, a princess descended from Issun-boushi himself. Inchlings are the only beings capable of wielding Issun-Boushi's Miracle Mallet, though misuse of its power lead to the decline of their civilisation.
