Hakurei Shrine collapsed and needs rebuilding Attention: This article is a stub and it needs expanding with more information related to the article's topic. If you can add to it in any way, please do so.

An incident (異変 ihen) is an unusual phenomenon that occurs within Gensokyo, with a scale that extends over Gensokyo, and are of unknown cause at the time that they occur. The main plot of most Touhou games generally surrounds the occurrence of an incident. There may also be incidents that occur outside the games, although these tend to be of less urgency and concern. There are also games like Mountain of Faith that focus on non-incidents.
