Storm, be my rival by Barrage Am Ring
Original Romanized Translation

其れは――

sore wa—

That is—

華が舞い散る夕霧の中 狂い咲きたる魂の光が照らし出す 二つの顔が相見える いざ尋常に立ち合うがいい 邪魔するものは何もない ぶつかり合う魂の咆哮が今 火花を散らしてく

hana ga maichiru yuugiri no naka kuruizakitaru tamashii no hikari ga terashidasu futatsu no kanbase ga aimamieru iza jinjou ni tachiau ga ii jama suru mono wa nanimo nai butsukariau tamashii no houkou ga ima hibana wo chirashiteku

A flower falling down in the evening fog, the light of an off-seasoned soul shining Two people face to face Now, as always, we can fight each other. There’s nothing which will stop us And now, when our souls’ howls clash together, sparks scatter around

其は何のため? 其は誰がために? 鎬を削るのか 互いに意趣を秘めて 今此処に立ち 掲げるは意地 いざ、倒れ逝くその時まで

so wa nanno tame? so wa ta ga tame ni? shinogi wo kezuru no ka tagaini ishu wo himete ima koko ni tachi kakageru wa iji iza, taoreyuku sono toki made

For the sake of what is that? For the sake of who is that? We sharpen our swords, as we mutually hide our grudge Now, let’s set it off here. We carry our spirit. Now, until when one will collapse

飛び交う光の粒が降り注いでゆく 二つの猛りが響き鍔迫り合う さあ輩よ粋の華を咲かせて舞い上がれよ 晴嵐を 巻き起こすが如く

tobikau hikari no tsubu ga furisosoideyuku futatsu no takeri ga hibiki tsuba semariau saa tomogara yo iki no hana wo sakasete maiagareyo seiran wo makiokosu ga gotoku

The light’s drops floating around are falling down. The rage of the two resounds as their swords draw near Come, fellow. I’ll make all these refined flower bloom and then soaring As I create a clear sky storm

其れは――

sore wa—

That is—

弾が舞い跳ぶ五月雨の中 供に煌く魂の焔が燃え上がる 二つの命只加速してく さあ存分に荒ぶるがいい 遮るものは何もない 互いに胸に抱く矜持を賭けて今 火花を疾らせる

tama ga mai tobu samidare no naka tomoni kirameku tamashii no honoo ga moeagaru futatsu no inochi tada kasokushiteku saa zonbunni araburu ga ii saegiru mono wa nanimo nai tagaini mune ni idaku kyouji wo kakete ima hibana wo hayaraseru

A sphere dancing in the early-summer rain, the flame of shining souls burning together But two people’s life is speeding up Come, we can fight without holding back, nothing will interrupt us Now, we both accept in our heart that we are betting our pride. The sparks are spreading.

もっと激しく もっと苛烈に 鬩ぎ合う力が 互いに弾けてゆく 己が正義を 求めるが故 いざ、倒れ逝くその時まで

motto hageshiku motto karetsu ni semegiau chikara ga tagaini hajiketeyuku onoga seigi wo motomeru ga yue iza, taoreyuku sono toki made

More forceful, more severe, the power we’re using to fight each other is overflowing I’m seeking my justice, my reason. Now, until when one will collapse

剥き出しの牙を掲げ奮える魂 切り札を握り締めて解き放つよ さあ輩よ粋の華を散らせて響かせよう 花の色 映す塚を越えて

mukidashi no kiba wo kakage furueru tamashii kirifuda wo nigirishimete tokihanatsu yo saa tomogara yo iki no hana wo chirasete hibikase you hana no iro utsusu oka wo koete

Our souls are showing their fangs. I hold tightly my trump card, and reveal it Come, comrade. I’ll make all these refined flower resounding and scatter Colorful flowers will be your burial mound

頬を掠めてく弾幕(あめ)と弾ける魔力(ちから)が 今此処に或る愉悦を感じさせる 儘 飛び交う光の粒が降り注いでゆく 二つの猛りが響き鍔迫り合う さあ輩よ粋の華を咲かせて舞い上がれよ 晴嵐を 巻き起こすが如く

hoho wo kasumeteku ame to hajikeru chikara ga ima koko ni aru yuetsu wo kanjisaseru mama tobikau hikari no tsubu ga furisosoideyuku futatsu no takeri ga hibiki tsuba semariau saa tomogara yo iki no hana wo sakasete maiagareyo seiran wo makiokosu ga gotoku

As our barrages and our full power deceives our faces, here, now, I feel happiness Because the light’s drops floating around are falling down. The rage of the two resounds as their swords draw near Come, comrade. I’ll make all these refined flower bloom and then soaring As I create a clear sky storm

Translator's Notes

Two warnings: if the lyrics sounds too much “…what?” don’t worry. Turn off the brain and try to read them without thinking. Because the lyrics are really saying that. Second warning: some –a lot- of words are written in a certain way but pronounced in another one. I won’t list each time when this happens, and for the translation I’ve picked the word I think it fits most –which means it’s not always the one sung or the one written. Stated this, enjoy!

“春嵐、相克するが如く”, “Storm, be my rival”. Probably you want a more literal translation, “Spring storm, (I go) against you” or “Spring storm, against me” or, if you don’t care that “Spring storm” is separated by the rest of the phrase, “Against the spring storm”. Anyway, fact is that it’s hard to tell how the title should be translated, since thanks to the absence of a particle, I have no idea if “spring storm” is supposed to be subject or object, and the translation actually works in both ways –and many other ways. Thus why in the end I decided to be creative and put a title even more creative -?-

“邪魔するものは / There’s nothing”; literally, “There’s nothing which (can) obstacle us”, but well, the meaning doesn’t really change. Also, rather than writing “Nothing will stop us”, I’ve opted for a more “long” form which, in my opinion, keeps more the original meaning of “there’s nothing in between us that will be able to stop us from going against each other” –and about this, I’ve preferred using “to fight” rather than “to go against”.

“花の色 映す塚 / Colorful flowers”; I really went by instinct on this phrase, assuming “映す” is the main verb and not used to describe “塚”. The reason why I did this is because how the phrase is written means “The flowers’ colors are crossing the reflected burial mound” which, for me, means nothing.
