Notes

  1. Play on The Refrain of the Lovely Great War.
  2. Reference to 再度の怪 (saido no kai, "apparition appearing again"), a term used for a common template in Japanese folklore in which the same creature frightens a person on two occasions.
  3. A reference to the volcanic gas of Mt. Bandai, which was historically known as Yamousan (lit. "sickness mountain") as a result.
  4. Possible reference to the Oshi Kokuuzou Bousatsudou (大塩虚空蔵菩薩堂) temple in Bandai, which is named after and contains a statue of Ākāśagarbha.
  5. 鯨幕 (kujira-maku, lit. "whale curtain"): a black-and-white striped curtain used as funeral decoration.
  6. A reference to the "Utsunomiya Suspended Ceiling Incident" (宇都宮城釣天井事件), which involved a plot to assassinate Tokugawa Hidetada with a falling ceiling. Some theories claim that Kamehime, Tokugawa Ieyasu's daughter, was behind the attempt.
  7. A reference to Lake Inawashiro (also known as the "Heavenly Mirror Lake") and a type of icicle called shibuki-koori ("spray ice") that forms in winter near the lake, as a result of unfrozen lakewater being blown onto nearby trees.
  8. A reference to the "Gigantamax" ability in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as well as the "G-Max ____" naming scheme (キョダイ____ in Japanese) of Gigantamax moves.
