Description

In 2012, after the 2011 disbandment of Yellow Zebra, its core members reunited under Ran-T's label R-note and continued releasing albums in the same style as Yellow Zebra. They have also created two album series parallel to their main albums: The first is the Yoshiha Style series, which features male vocals by arranger and lyricist 芳葉 instead of the circle's usual female vocalists. These five albums were released between 2013 and 2016. The second is the series of whisper albums featuring 智絵チハル (Tomoe Chiharu) and 緒杏 (YUA). This series was started in 2017.

On 2018-06-13, it was announced that Yoshiha and Ucchi would leave the circle at the end of the year.

Touhou M-1 Grand Prix

After Yellow Zebra's disbandment, R-note continued the Touhou M-1 Grand Prix series, which consists of CDs and DVDs showing various characters from the series performing manzai acts in mock tournaments.

Album naming schemes

  • Their first main album naming scheme, "東方[two kanji]響 ~[Noun] [Preposition] [Noun]~" is similar to the album naming scheme used for many of their albums as Yellow Zebra. This scheme was used for six albums - the most of any R-note naming scheme.
  • Their second main album naming scheme, "東方[word in katakana]!" might be a callback to the Yellow Zebra album 東方スプラッシュ!.
  • Their third main album naming scheme is "東方[English word] Girl".
  • Their fourth main album naming scheme is "東方[one kanji]歌"
  • Their fifth main album naming scheme is "[kanji] [English word]", where the kanji come from the Japanese title of the only Touhou game whose music is arranged on the album.
  • The second, third and fourth main album naming schemes were used for exactly three albums each. The fifth scheme is an exception, as it was used four times.
  • The Yoshiha Style albums have names on the form "Yoshiha Style [number in the series] ~[Japanese word written in hiragana]のうた~". The compilation album is an exception to this rule - it uses "Z" in place of a number.
  • The whisper albums have names on the form "[Made-up English word (including the word "love") in all caps] 〜幻想郷[two more kanji]〜".
