ははは、欲の声を読むのは面白い物だ
「避けられないほどびっしりの弾の壁を撃ちたい」だそうだぞ
それではルール違反ゆえ、やむなく不格好な穴だらけになったのだな
Translation
Miko: Hahaha, reading the voice of her desires is interesting.
That is, "I want to shoot a wall of bullets that can't be avoided".
Then, because it violated the rules, she unwillingly opened a bunch of clumsy gaps.

Sugawara no Michizane was overthrown just like this incident's mastermind.

禍公の梅の樹が空を飛んだ伝説は良く知られているけど
禍公の松も飛んだらしいわよ。梅は私を慕って飛んだのにお前らはって
言って嘆いたから。流石は元政治家、民草の功名心をくすぐるのがお上手ね
Translation
Yukari: The legend that Magakimi's plum tree flew through the skies is quite well-known.
Apparently her pines also flew away. The plum flew over me, despite your presence.
It's, in a way, lamenting. Though, as a former politician, she was skilled in tickling the masses' ambition.

Magakimi always likes to consider new technologies, after all.

Translation
Yukari: Does the name refer to Kiku-ichimonji? Such a waste of fine poetry.
After the war that once shook the country, the current emperor at the time comissioned countless swords,
seeking to replace the Kusanagi that fell into the sea during the battle.

Miko: Stretching its wings left and right, the crane formation besieges the enemies who ran towards the center.
However, sadly, it is difficult to change the direction of an attack once it begins.
As for this kodama, apparently she can't even besiege the center at all.

三本の矢という故事に倣ったのだろうが、無理に三本集める事が必ずしも
良い事ではない。同じ程度の強さの三人が力を合わせるのが美しいのだ
これも和を以て貴しと成すの精神だな
Translation
Miko: The name may come from the story of the three arrows bundled together inseparably.
Not good. It is certainly a beautiful thing when three people of equal strength join forces.
That's the essence of this spell, built with that same precious harmony in mind.

Owner
Hatsuna Magatsuji
Stage 2 — Hard
Comment
禍公が弓の達人であった事に因んで、天満宮では弓を射る神事があるのよ
彼女、詩人の割にお琴はかなり下手だったらしいけれど
貰う才能をうっかり間違えたのかしらね…弓も琴も弦を引く物だから
Translation
Yukari: There is a shooting ceremony held in Tenmanguu because Magakimi was a master of the bow.
On the other hand, for a poet, she was supposedly quite bad at the koto.
I wonder if she got her talents mixed up because both the bow and koto operate by pulling strings...

Spell Card 028
逆矢「リバースライジングアロー」(Gyakuya "Ribaasu Raijingu Aroo")
Reverse Arrow "Reverse Rising Arrow" [7]
Owner
Hatsuna Magatsuji
Stage 2 — Lunatic
Comment
「Rising」と「雷神」の言葉遊びが面白いと思って
下から登る雷矢を編み出した…案外つまらなくもない発想かも知れない
上に登る雷は普通よりかなり強い…レッドスプライトと言ったかな
Translation
Patchouli: I thought the wordplay between "Rising" and "Raijin" was amusing.
Considering he used a lightning arrow as a ladder... perhaps that's where the idea came from.
The lightning must have been much stronger than a regular one... perhaps a red sprite?

…雷の力はそのままに太鼓が小型化されていて便利そう
うちの本も全部文庫化とか出来れば、書庫も今より綺麗になるか
…やめとこう。どうせ元の本を捨てられない。自分の性格は分かってるさ
Translation
Patchouli: It appears that this drum can perfectly compact electric power for ease of transport.
If I could have all my books paperbacked, will the library look more beautiful?
...Let's stop. I know my own personality, I would never throw my precious books away.

神鼓「堀川雷鼓」(Shinko "Horikawa Raiko")
Divine Drum "Raiko Horikawa"
Owner

Comment
その名は何処かで聞いたわ…確か、外の世界に干渉してのけた付喪神
彼女達も私の知らない間に近代化していて侮れないわね
唐傘お化けもいつかビニールや折り畳み式になったりするのかしら
Translation
Yukari: I have heard this name somewhere... right, the tsukomogami who interfered with the outside world.
Those girls also went and modernized without me noticing, huh.
I wonder if that Karakasa-obake will someday become vinyl or foldable as well.

Miko: Using science to shrink one's travel distance? The principle is quite different
from mine, Yukari's, and that shrine maiden. I suppose it's an essential skill for a
leader to become influential here. Just learn a few pointless tricks like this.

Even if the bullets form a beautiful shape, you can't appreciate it from the center.
Different? Unavoidable? Well, humans have no eyes behind their heads.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 A pun on the Outenmon Incident that occurred in 866. "桜天門" is pronounced "outenmon", but the first kanji is replaced with the one for 'cherry blossom'.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 A reference to the Japanese folktale of Jugemu, a child with a very, very long string of names. Three of his names were "Suigyoumatsu" ('where water flows'), "Unraimatsu" ('where clouds blow from'), and "Fuuraimatsu" ('where wind blows from'). The "matsu" kanji in each of these names has been replaced with the identically-pronounced "松" ('pine'), and "Suigyoumatsu" has become "Kuugyoumatsu" ('where the sky flows'), presumably because there's no ocean in Gensokyo.
  3. 3.0 3.1 "一文陣" (ichimonjin): a pun on the Kiku-ichimonji swords commissioned by Emperor Go-Toba in 1208.
  4. 4.0 4.1 "菊翼の陣" (kiku-yoku no jin) is a pun on the Japanese "Crane Wing" military formation (鶴翼の陣, kaku-yoku no jin).
  5. 5.0 5.1 A possible reference to the story of Mori Motonari and the three arrows. Mori asked his three sons to snap a single arrow, then three bundled together; they found the bundle impossible to snap, serving as a lesson that the three of them were stronger when working together rather than when on their own.
  6. Refers to the yumi-hajime ceremony held each year at the Dazaifu Tenmanguu.
  7. "Rising" is pronounced "raijingu" in Japanese, forming a pun on "raijin" (thunder god).
  8. A den-den daiko is a type of Japanese pellet drum. "Den-den" is onomatopoeia for drumming. "Den" can also mean "electricity" when spelt with the kanji "電", as it is here.
  9. 9.0 9.1 "討鬼" (touki) may be a reference to Toukiden (討鬼伝), a 2013 video game.
