流石の私も震えるな、我が国の宝である草薙の剣を直に目にする日が来るとは
民草が迂闊に正視でもした日には、間違いなくその目は焼けて潰れるだろうが
最近はその威光も衰えていたようだ。魔理沙が普通に持っていた始末だからな
Translation
Miko: Even I shivered when seeing our country's sacred treasure, the sword of Kusanagi.
Would the masses look directly at it, their eyes would have burned for certain.
The prestige seems to have faded recently. Even a commoner like Marisa could carry it.

桃姫を封じる結界を打ち破る為に、付喪神の潮満珠・潮干珠や
桃姫の神鏡と力を共鳴させ増幅する儀式。私達を止める時間稼ぎを兼ねる為に
その余波を即興で弾幕にしてのけた機転は見事の一言と言わざるを得ないわ
Translation
Yukari: In order to break the seal that binds Momohime, using the Tsukumogami's tide jewels
they did a ritual to amplify the power of the divine mirror. She had the role of delaying us to buy time.
Meanwhile, the impromptu danmaku they managed to pull off was an act of splendid cleverness, I admit.

Spell Card 104
「神器と共に在り続ける皇」("Shinki to Tomo ni Aritsuzukeru Ou")
"The Emperor Existing Alongside the Divine Treasure"
Owner
Suitenguu no Himemiko

彼女が近付いた事で、力を失っていた神剣も共鳴し復活を遂げた
水天宮皇女は、生まれた時から草薙の剣と人剣一体の運命を背負っていたのよ
きっと死んでも芝刈り機とかに転生する筈よ
Translation
Patchouli: As she approached it, the weakened sacred sword resonated and was revived.
From the moment she was born, Suitenguu no Himemiko and the Kusanagi's fates have been intertwined.
Even if she dies, her reincarnation's going to work with a lawnmower[1] for certain.

Yukari: Finally, Momohime's seal is about to be broken.
Her grudge from being bound to the Tougenkyuu will finally be brushed aside.
Even so, everyone with a grudge has free time, they should just find something else to do.

本当にそうだったのかしら…いあいあ、私はそうは思わんねえ
Translation
Patchouli: Cthylla...? Ah, the daughter of that crazy sea god Cthulhu...
Although, everything regarding the Cthulhu mythos was created by H.P. Lovecraft.
I wonder if that's really true... Nah, most definitely isn't.

多くの生命が沈んで行った海の底には、それだけ多くの神霊も渦巻いておる

Translation
Miko: At the bottom of the sea where many lives sank, there are so many divine spirits swirling around.
Someone like me who can hear their voices can confirm that they come from prehistoric times to the present.
These are, essentially, memories of the planet. There's not much useful information though.

These haniwas take the form of horsemen so that Momohime can pour her kidou into them.
Did her "kidou" start-up that haniwa "kiddo" from before too? [3]

この埴輪という奴は、確か王が死んだ時に生きた人間を一緒に生き埋めにする
殉死というふざけた風習をやめさせる為に作られた代替品だったな
全く馬鹿共め、一人で死ぬのが怖いなどと、とんだ腑抜けの王が居たものだな
Translation
Miko: These haniwas were certainly living people buried alive together with dead rulers.
It's funny how the custom of following one's master into the grave was used to make weapons.
Though, it began with a ridiculously stupid king who was scared of dying alone.

埴輪「鬼道戦士フリーダム」(Haniwa "Kidou Senshi Furiidamu")
Haniwa "Demobile Suit Freedom" [5]
Owner

Comment
これだけの物量を式神のように自在に操っている…流石は侮れない力ね
埴輪達が年月を経ても中々付喪神にならなかったのも、使用者がこれほど
強大な人物ならば十分考えられる事。復活の日に備えていたのでしょうね
Translation
Yukari: Manipulating this amount of material freely like shikigami... truly a force to be reckoned with.
Even though the haniwas eventually became tsukumogami, she shows no trouble controlling them.
Even for a powerful person, she takes a lot into consideration. Perhaps she was preparing for her resurrection.

古代から秘密裏に伝わる黄金の桃には、若返りの魔力が秘められているの
外の世界で昔、妖怪を育てる電子遊戯にこの桃が登場した事があったけど

Translation
Yukari: The golden peaches that have been secretly hidden since ancient times have the magical power of rejuvenation.
In the outside world, they are used to raise youkai in an electronic game.
The ones who developed it must be surely descendants of the Yamatai royal family.

Mirrors themselves were commonly held by the rulers of that era.
Because the ruler, Momohime, used it, it went from an ordinary tool to a sacred treasure.

Notes

  1. the Kusanagi's name means literally "grass-mowing sword".
  2. 2.0 2.1 A pun on the "3D Maneuver Gear" featured in the series Attack on Titan. "機動" (mobility) and "鬼道" (Queen Himiko's demonic arts) are both pronounced "kidou". "Demoneuver" is an attempt to approximate this pun.
  3. Patchouli originally makes a pun on how she "starts-up" (pronounced kidou) the haniwas using kidou. This approximation of the pun was made to refer to Nomi no Hanie.
  4. Possibly a reference to the "Gah-Goojin" enemy in the game The Wonderful 101; the enemy is called a "humanoid mobile assault weapon" (人型機動強襲制圧兵器), which links back to the "mobility/kidou" pun in the other versions of this card.
  5. A reference to the "Freedom Gundam" mech featured in the series Mobile Suit Gundam, incorporating the "mobility/kidou" pun mentioned above.
  6. 6.0 6.1 A reference to the peaches of immortality in Chinese mythology. (Also a reference to the "Silver Peach" and "Golden Peach" items in the Monster Rancher series, which extend a given monster's lifespan.)
  7. A portmanteau of "masquerade" and "kaleidoscope", as Miko mentions in the comment section.
  8. Yamatohime-no-Mikoto, one of the legendary figures hypothesized to be the same person as Queen Himiko, is the person said to have founded the Ise Shrine to the sun goddess Amaterasu.
  9. 9.0 9.1 9.2 9.3 First and Second phases featuring Himemiko and Tarumi, respectively (screenshots from Lunatic dificulty).
