Notes
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 飛光虫 (hikouchuu): Possibly a pun on hikou (飛行, flight) and yakouchuu (飛光虫, the micro-organism Noctiluca.)
- ↑ Pun on 'Yakumo' and kumo, meaning 'spider'.
- ↑ 開けて悔しき玉手箱 (literally 'treasure box that brings regret when opened'): an idiom referring to something that seemed good but turned out badly.
- ↑ An idiom meaning 'to live a secluded life amidst nature'.
- ↑ A warped version of the above idiom, originating from a story in the Annals of Jin (晋書). In it, Sun Chu accidentally mixed up his intended words ('rest on stone'), resulting in a nonsense expression ('rinse with stone') that he quickly came up with a smart explanation for.
- ↑ Shortened version of the phrase "人間到る処に青山有り". Literally means 'a (final) resting place exists wherever people go'; similar to English expressions such as "home is where one lays one's head".
