「生まれ変わり」がテーマだったのと、インパクトを出すために幽々子に出てもらいました。一度ラスボスで出たキャラを1面ボスで出すと、どうしても攻撃を優しくしなきゃいけないので、迫力が無いんですよね。それがキャラとしてマイナスイメージになるんじゃないかというのが心残りです。 |
The theme was "rebirth" so I had Yuyuko show up to create an impact. By having a final boss character show up as a Stage 1 Boss, I had to make her attacks gentler, so there's nothing impressive about her. But I regret that it might have a lasting negative impact on her image as a character. |

ヤマビコは有名な妖怪ですが、それがお寺で習わぬ経を読んでいる、というのが僕としてはすごく好きな設定の性質を活かしていろいろな弾幕を作れるのも楽しかったですね。 |
Yamabiko are famous youkai, but I really love the idea of having one read sutra at a temple without learning anything. It was also fun making use of her sound reflecting properties for danmaku. |

墓場にキョンシー、というのはベタベタですね。墓石を並べるステージを作るのが少し面倒で、お線香の煙の表現も、やらないとお墓っぽくならないけど作るのが面倒でした。キョンシーは正直なところゲーム的には向いてなかったですね、死んでるキョンシーをどう倒すか、というのは結果的に4面に持ち越しになりましたし。 |
A Jiangshi in a graveyard is pretty cliche, huh? Making a stage lined with gravestones was a little troublesome, and I also had trouble conveying the incense to really make them feel like graves. Honestly, jiangshi aren't very game-friendly, are they? How are you supposed to kill a Jiangshi? In the end, I pushed that question back to Stage 4. |

道中は洞窟だけどスピード感がある、気持ちのいいステージにできたと思います。けっこうお気に入りですね。スピード感は、洞窟の中に霊魂が吸い込まれていくイメージの表現です。ボスもキョンシーを操る奴というのが決まっていましたが、青娥よりも芳香が本領を発揮しているかもしれません。 |
Even though your journey takes you through a cave, there's this sense of speed to it. I think I made a pretty good stage. I'm really fond of it. The speed helps express the image of absorbing souls in a cave. The boss too. I'd settled on having it be the one controlling the jiangshi, but maybe I showed off Yoshika's special ability more than Seiga's? |

BGMをノスタルジックな曲調じにして、プレイヤーに「いよいよ始まったな」と感じてもらえるようにしています。導入が長いゲームだなあ(笑)。ゆっくり洞窟の奥に降りていくステージなので、そのゆったり感がBGMと相まって、全体としてなんとも優しいイメージなんです。ボスもそんなに強くないから優しい(笑)。 |
The BGM has a nostalgic melody to it, to make the player think "It's finally starting huh?" Wow, this game sure had a long prologue, didn't it? (Laugh) The stage is about leisurely descending into the caverns, so that feeling combines with the BGM to create a gently image. The boss Isn't that difficult either, so It's gentle too. (Laugh) |

神子自体はネタだらけだったのでやりたい放題というか選びたい放題なんですが、ステージそのものはどんどん狭いところに進んできた結果、特に工夫しようが無いというか、もっと空を飛ばせたりしてあげたかったですけれどもね。今回はいつも以上に特に戦う理由が薄いんですが、話し合いで解決する相手でもないので必然的に戦います。 |
Miko herself has so much to her that I crammed in as much as I could fit, or rather as much as I could choose, but the stage itself ended up just gradually getting narrower. I'd wanted to make it more like soaring through the sky though. This time there's even less reason to fight than usual, but she's not the type of person you could ever settle things through discussion, so a battle was inevitable. |

「星蓮船」ではやや宙ぶらりんだったぬえを少し出してあげたくてね。そのぬえとマミゾウの組み合わせで、ほかの登場キャラにみあうくらいの古い妖怪と言えばなんだろう、と考えた結果が狸かなと。これまたベタな妖怪ですよね。狸の妖怪自体は幻想郷にいっぱいいましたが、外の世界の妖怪がやってきた、という形は神子の登場の仕方と似せています。 |
Nue was kind of left dangling from UFO, so I wanted to use her again. So she teamed up with Mamizou. After thinking about what kind of character could balance her out, I started thinking it had to be another old youkai, so I ended up with a tanuki, another cliché youkai. There are actually plenty of tanuki youkai in Gensokyo already, but by having her come from the Outside World It's kind of imitating how Miko arrived. |

- ↑ She's likely referring to Hōryū-ji Temple, a Buddhist temple founded in 607 by Prince Shoutoku and Empress Suiko to honor the dying wishes of Emperor Yomei. All of its buildings were initially burned down by lighting in 670, but the temple has since been reconstructed, and it is now considered one of the oldest surviving wooden structures in Japan.
