Can someone check the translation on this? Going by the figures they're based on, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamayori-bime Yorihime] would be married to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyotama-hime Toyohime]'s son. --[[User:Prime32|Prime32]] ([[User talk:Prime32|talk]]) 22:10, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

has been translated as:
With Reisen being so abusive, I decided it would be best to remind her that Tewi had been at Eientei for much longer than she had, but added that I'd "make sure to have a word with her later" to make it sound as if a horrible punishment were in store for Tewi.
I think a more correct translation would be:
After being so abusive, Reisen remembered that Tewi had been at Eientei for much longer than she had. Looking uneasy, she added "It's not that I criticise the education you gave her, Master."
I am aware that the difference between the translations is surprisingly large. Most of the difference originate from the interpretation of the expression ばつが悪そうに. The translator apparently went for the translation: "so the punishment would look bad" and interpreted in this light the rest of the text, which doesn't mention who is actually uttering the dialog line.
The following page taught me that the ばつ of this expression, while having the same pronunciation than the japanese word for "punishment", has a different origin:
https://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/word/%E3%81%B0%E3%81%A4%E3%81%8C%E6%82%AA%E3%81%84/
The following pages confirm that ばつが悪い means something like "feeling uneasy/guilty" and ばつが悪そうに "looking uneasy/bad":

With no reference to a punishment anymore - and it was a bit contradictory from Eirin to suggest a horrible punishment only to admit a few paragraphs later she doesn't have that much authority on Tewi - the interpretation of the rest of the text changes, hence my very different translation.
This is why I would like to replace the translation but I don't know the habits on this Wiki, so I post my intention here before.

"The two princesses were my distant relatives. To put it in human terms, one was the wife of a grandnephew of mine, while the other was married to the son of another grandnephew."

Can someone check the translation on this? Going by the figures they're based on, Yorihime would be married to Toyohime's son. --Prime32 (talk) 22:10, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Reisen bad-mouthing Tewi

そこまで悪態吐いて、てゐは鈴仙より前から永遠亭にいた事を思い出し、ばつが悪そうに「お師匠様の教育の事を言っている訳じゃ無いですよ」と付け加えた。 has been translated as: With Reisen being so abusive, I decided it would be best to remind her that Tewi had been at Eientei for much longer than she had, but added that I'd "make sure to have a word with her later" to make it sound as if a horrible punishment were in store for Tewi.

I think a more correct translation would be: After being so abusive, Reisen remembered that Tewi had been at Eientei for much longer than she had.

The following page taught me that the ばつ of this expression, while having the same pronunciation than the japanese word for "punishment", has a different origin: https://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/word/%E3%81%B0%E3%81%A4%E3%81%8C%E6%82%AA%E3%81%84/ The following pages confirm that ばつが悪い means something like "feeling uneasy/guilty" and ばつが悪そうに "looking uneasy/bad": https://www.weblio.jp/content/%E3%81%B0%E3%81%A4%E3%81%8C%E6%82%AA%E3%81%84 https://biz.trans-suite.jp/21571
