Unicode characters

I don't think it's a good idea to put Unicode characters in page names. —Preceding unsigned comment added by J5983 (talkcontribs)

And would you mind telling us why? ふのっふ!
Makes the URL look like garbage, and it's lot harder to link to pages that way. It's not important for all the minor stuff, but the offical work is known in English by the English title.
Well, you can still use redirections but I see what you mean. Actually, I misread that you thought using Unicode chars in *pages* was not prefered but the point you raised is valid. ふのっふ! 10:50, 28 July 2006 (PDT)

Does anybody know what this 'Dawn of Touhou' thing is? The article refers to it as the origin of Kid' Festival Innocent Treasures.

Translation of 夢違(え)

夢違(え) in the Japanese main title means "act of praying or performing an incantation so that a bad dream does not come true" (weblio, goo). Whoever did it in the 童祭 ~ Innocent Treasures's page, done it fine.--Doncot (talk) 23:17, 10 August 2012 (EDT)

科学世紀の少年少女

The translation of this title seems to get changed around quite a bit, so I think it might be a good idea to write down all of the options and talk through them so we can get something consistent together. It seems like there are three options so far:

-Boys and Girls of Science Era [the current translation]
-Boys and Girls of the Science Era
-Boys and Girls of the Age of Science

From just a quick look at the three options, I think we can safely get rid of the first one. You generally need a 'the' before a noun in situations like this: for example, we say Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and not Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets. So that leaves us with 'Science Era' and 'Age of Science.' Given that we've got 'Premonitions in the Age of Science' at the top of the page, I'm tempted to go with 'Age of Science'.

However, there's something else there that I think is pretty curious: that is, the translation of 少年少女 as 'Boys and Girls.' That feels a bit redundant to me, especially since the general translation of this term seems to be 'children.' See, for example, http://www.children.ne.jp/ where 東京少年少女センター is translated as Tokyo Children Center, or 少年少女合唱隊 which is translated as children's choir.

With that in mind, I'd like to propose that we change the translation to either 'Children of the Age of Science' or 'The Children of the Age of Science.' The second option might have too many instances of 'the,' but I'll leave that as an open topic. Biggest Dreamer (talk) 05:10, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
