Her Name

Thanks to whoever that corrected the grammar, I'm not a native English speaker and new to page editing. Could you also add that her first and last names are both purposely made to have characters of opposite meanings(human and oni, the most infamous youkai in Japanese folklores, right and wrong), which also reference with her ability. Would really appreciate it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Recyclex (talkcontribs) 09:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Kishin, Take 2

My recent edit necessitates a repost for context. Topic is the misconception that the game's title, Touhou Kishinjou (東方輝針城), references Seija (正邪) and/or Kishin (鬼神), a particular kind of oni.

In the demo, people used it as speculation material because they see what they want to see and ignored the fact that きしん has like fifty words pronounced that way. Now that the full game has been released, this shouldn't even be a subject of discussion. "And this is no spec at all, just a translation" is flat-out wrong; it isn't a translation at all, it's just linking together homophones and acting as if it has meaning. 鬼神 is a very specific term in Touhou and refers to an actual category of powerful oni. Seija, as an amanojaku, is a very average oni; actually the weakest one we've seen so far [EDIT: not an oni at all!]. She is not a Kishin, and so pointing out the term oni appearing in her name or species doesn't mean anything, just as pointing out a shared pronunciation with 神 doesn't mean it's related to the game being about new tsukumogami (付喪神). ZUN does do puns like these often enough, but you can't say this is one just because "it sort of fits this other term we know even though it wasn't really in the game in any way". It's a total coincidence, and I would very much like to get rid of even mentioning it altogether because people who don't know any better will easily get attached to the idea, and it's been happening since the demo came out. People read it and are like "yeah that makes sense". No it doesn't. This doesn't belong on a wiki. Drake Irving (talk) 03:35, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Seriously guys, this is not a thing. I'm not sure why this is so hard. There isn't any indication whatsoever that the title references Seija's name and plenty of reason why it doesn't. I have to stress that this does not belong on a wiki, even if it were the case that it was speculation with some small basis.
The title does reference Shinmyoumaru in the usual main game fashion of having a kanji from a character's name (針) be present in the title. This would actually be worthy of note since it's a noticeable recurring pattern in all main games and several books. Drake Irving (talk) 07:58, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

The edit was made on August 19th, so the entry's been there since just a couple days after the first discussion. That said, speculative or coincidental information doesn't belong on mainspace articles anyway. Mamizou (talk) 22:33, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
