Regarding the English title and the page title

I don't have a copy of this game, but on the jacket, I can clearly see the line "Touhou Pocket War 2". As stated in the unification rules of page titles, I believe this should go as the relevant English title for the page name. Any objections? --Doncot (talk) 12:12, 12 August 2012 (EDT)

The website states 東方ポケット戦争2nd, and it can safely be inferred that 東方ポケット戦争 = Touhou Pocket War. Actually, besides the 2nd, there's a pluralization inconsistency too, which is weird. I don;t know where that came from. - Kiefmaster99 (talk) 12:20, 12 August 2012 (EDT)

Regarding Secret Characters

I lately Noticed that once one gets to Lunatic Rank, a familiar icon has a chance to appear on the map, that leads to a maze. completing this unlocks a secret Gatcha machine that has 6 characters from unrelated series "Star School" (I believe it appears as "『星耀学園』" on the atwiki article). Should these be added? also, I'm afraid I only know this from numerous internet sources such as shrinemaiden, and I only found the sprites within the data.xp3 file by extracting it using a program I also found there. Could some please fill these details about these extra characters in should they decide to add them, as I am, Quite frankly, awful at this game and there is very little chance I'll make it to lunatic rank any time soon. (Whilst I'm here, their names are also untranslated. this will need to be looked at too.) If It's required, I could send the .png files I found to anyone willing to carry this out. Thanks. --Senile Chipmunk (talk) 16:13, 15 November 2012 (EDT)

WAITWHAT
I had completely forgotten about this, and I haven't reached that far in-game yet, though I intend to. I can provide the missing information, but I can't translate their names myself, and I have no idea how to extract things. Do you still have the shrinemaiden sources and the .png files? -- Naï (talk) 16:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Nevermind, I found out how to extract the .xp3 files myself... I have all the .png files already, and will create their pages later. I have to create the pages for the Prismriver sisters, as well... -- Naï (talk) 19:22, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Transition from EVO+ to 2nd

Any info at all on the new assist mechanics? This whole "offensive/defensive danmaku" and blah seems really confusing to me. Also, do the old stat growths from EVO+ apply in 2nd? Riddle (talk) 17:17, 25 December 2012 (EST)

Nevermind, I understand how it works now and intend to edit the Touhou Pocket Wars 2nd/Gameplay section with details... some growths will have to be re-estimated, though, since a lot of characters got nerfed or buffed on their base stats, and since the base stats are usually used as basis for growths. Still, exp comes by a lot easier in TPW2, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. -- Naï (talk) 16:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

File Naming Conventions

I'd like to suggest changing the current spell cards from the prefix of "File:Image" to something different. What that would be, not quite sure :/ ♥★♦ (talk) 03:13, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure if I understand... doesn't the current format seem fine? o.o
I find the Marisa page, for example, to be really pretty. All that'd be needed imo would be changing all the pages to use the same formatting, and I intend to do that myself when I have time. -- Naï (talk) 16:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
So that will be the standard then. I'll start adjusting the rest of the games to match the standard. ♥★♦ (talk) 21:25, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Standards discussion

Actually, can you check this page and see if the standard is any good? There are some minor differences, such as using ===a=== coding to ease finding needed information. I got the idea from the Cirno page if I remember correctly.

I also added the EVO+ format for growths on the table, since it was really useful for me back in EVO to evaluate how to spend points and how much it would cost me, though those growths would have to be re-evaluated for TPW2 based on the lv1 effort stats since they got rebalanced... Reimu has lost a lot of DOD growth, for example, as well as Kaguya, and many other chars have lost or gained stats such as SPD, MP or REV.

Either way, your help is MUCH appreciated, honestly ;;

Naï (talk) 15:14, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Yup, that's a good idea. I'll incorporate this with the other pages as well as, with the addition of doing a third level header for "Union Spellcards as well" If you know how to categorize images, that will help Ibaraki and I in the future to keep the number of uncategorized images on the low side. You will probably have to fill out stats since I don't have the formula down.
Oh, and for minor edits, it's more courtesy than policy, no one will particularly bash you for it. It does help skimming through the recent changes to see what else needs to be done, that's all. Lemme know if I can help out in any other way, I'll continue standardizing for now. ♥★♦ (talk) 06:30, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

By uncategorized images, do you mean files that have no pages linking to them? If so, every file I upload is immediately linked to in an actual page, so I don't think there should be any problems. I don't really understand, though: this file, for example, is listed as uncategorized, even though it's linked to in the Touhou Pocket Wars 2nd/Characters/Chen page...
Wait, now that I'm checking some of the images I uploaded, they're listed as not being linked to anywhere as well! What is this i dont even pls halp
Other than that, I'm okay with filling out stats: I can extract them directly from the in-game files now, so it should be easy enough. And what we needed the most was an active wiki contributor that'd help out here: since we already have that, it should likely be enough to eventually complete and detail every page without that taking too long o.o. (Thanks again for the help~.) -- Naï (talk) 16:35, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
...oh, that's another issue. When you upload images, it's uploaded to the Pool and it does not always work. Those I will fix. When you upload images, look at the url, change pool to en to have them be uploaded normally. What I mean when uploading images, to have them have something like in the images. And no problem, I have some time now, so we should be able to complete these fairly soon. ♥★♦ (talk) 18:44, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Because there were too many colons

Please remember to not only standardize and add effects, but also add growths to the tables. Thanks as always for the help. o/

And okay, I'll upload images using the method you mentioned from now on. I'll add categories as well, at least to the images I uploaded. I had no idea, which is why I just uploaded everything to the pool (and I did upload a lot of images already, now all of those are both uncategorized and seem to not be linked to anywhere...)

Naï (talk) 00:28, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Just a question, do you think I should start subpaging for the different iterations for the Pocket Wars games?
For example, I would have Pocket Wars Reimu connect to EVO Reimu, EVO+ Reimu, and then 2nd Reimu.
Also, are dream events still a thing? I know the assist point system is gone, so are the dream events gone as well?
Thanks. ♥★♦ (talk) 00:53, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
There's a lot of overlap between the pages, but what benefit would there be to subpages? And nope, no dream events in this one. --Morrolan (talk) 05:17, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
I suppose I am abusing the original purpose of the subpage in which it's suppose to serve as a method to navigate amongst related content, but it's because of said overlap that I would find it useful to switch between each iteration. That said, it would help when we need to navigate quickly to copy-pasta the contents across each variation, and it would also serve as a way to show the differences between each version. And thanks, that saves me time. ♥★♦ (talk) 05:24, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Character information details

In addition to making all character pages follow the formatting of the Marisa page, I also intend to add new information eventually, such as card and growth build suggestions, as well as couple the effort information (visible on the Reimu page, for example) with the growth format from EVO+, which used letters from C to S. That way, one can have both a rough estimate of a character's growth and the exact starting growth stat.

Since it's A LOT of information, though, this will take me rather long to do. I'd appreciate it if someone helped when I do get started on this project, but if nobody does - which would be understandable, considering I don't think anybody's still playing TPW2... - then I intend to format all of it myself. I intend to start in July~.

For information on the original (and, as of now, old) layout, you may view this page.

Naï (talk) 16:28, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

The level up costs are a flat number(growth) multiplied by the current stat. If Reimu has 100 HP, it will cost 800 to level up. If she has 10,000 HP, it will cost 80,000. --Morrolan (talk) 05:17, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

1.05 patch (Prismriver sisters) and English patch

Uhm, people... was nobody here aware of the 1.05 patch, which adds the Prismriver sisters to the game?

I'm used to touhouwiki always being complete and such, so I was honestly shocked when I came to know of the patch from Youtube videos instead of here... isn't the wiki supposed to be rather complete? :(

There was also a problem with the English patch - a Youtube user pointed out that the links were broken - but it should be okay now. HOWEVER, the problem still stands that the partial English patch does not work at all with the 1.05 patch: when you download it, it reverts your game back to Japanese!

It's 2014, yet the 1.05 patch seems to be from 2013... we need a solution for this problem asap.

The point is, can we somehow organize a team to make a new partial English patch? I unfortunately know very little Japanese for now (though I intend to learn the language later), but I can help with the programming and such. Maybe I can at least make it so that the patches are compatible with each other, even though I have no new Japanese text to provide it with. :x

Update

I extracted the .xp3 files and took a look into the .ks files within. The coding seems rather simple and straightforward...

What I don't get is how the patch.xp3 file works, since, despite weighing only a few KB, when you extract it, it returns a folder which seems to be identical in nature to the one returned from data.xp3! I mean, I checked the .ks files (from the patch.xp3 folder) which are supposed to have the card data in them, and they were all untranslated?...

It probably works if you just edit the data.xp3 itself and repack the file, but then you'd have to translate the whole thing from scratch (or at least do the partial patch from scratch) instead of already using the existing patch.xp3 file... any suggestions? -- Naï (talk) 19:22, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

I tried extracting with a more recent program, and it seems to work decently this time. I was able to analyze both patches and determine what objects were exclusive to one, to another or common to both. I'll try fusing them into a single patch, hopefully it'll work as at least a temporary fix: the problem is what to do with the files common to both... -- Naï (talk) 13:55, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
The files in each numbered patch will override any previous versions which exist. Don't edit data.xp3(original release) or patch.xp3(an official patch)... patch2.xp3 is where all the english files should go. --Morrolan (talk) 05:17, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Chinese

Somebody bite me. The coding was in Chinese and I didn't know all along. '-'

Blame me for not knowing Japanese. I think it's Traditional Chinese instead of simplified, but I'm not sure.

Other than that, patch fusion and comparison is going smoothly for the most part, but some parts regarding the Primsriver sisters might be left untranslated. -- Naï (talk) 14:58, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

General TPW2 wiki updates

LOOK AT ALL THOSE BEAUTIFUL BLUE LINKS. <3

Added secret characters from Star School, as well as the Prismriver sisters - and if you haven't yet, check the Gameplay page. I actually got a lot of info (namely an example of what all spellcards do at lv10 + assists) about the guest girls, but all I have about the Prismriver sisters are the image files they use. I did leave their pages in an easy to edit fashion though, so if someone has already completed the main story and has the info about them, or is capable of getting such info without much trouble, please feel free to fill it in.

We still need to put every character page in this format, though, and there are also a lot of pages that were simply copied from EVO+ without nobody even bothering to fill in danmaku details or looking for what their assist danmaku is. There are also pages that are only blue links because I redirected them to their EVO+ counterparts, namely Ran, Hina, Yuugi, Nue, Utsuho and Suwako; the Shikieiki page also has only three spellcards.

I intend to fill in the danmaku details myself until the 6th series, which is what I already have unlocked in-game, and I'll eventually change the formatting of every char page as well... but guys, aside from very few users who made minor yet helpful edits, I'm pretty much the only person working on both the TPW2 wiki section and that patch compatibility thing, and that's considering I know very little to no Japanese!

So, some help, please? '-'

I know nobody's playing it and blah, but I've seen plenty of people mention they'd gladly replay TPW2 if the story was fully translated - and if I am to fully translate it by myself, not only will it take LONG, but I still have to learn Japanese before I try. The wiki's full of pages to edit if you don't want to help with translating, too.

And about the patch, I should be able to get it done in... about two weeks, with some luck, since I'm dealing with a programming language I've never heard about before and since I have to study for tests.

At this rate, it's going to become one huge one-girl job... I don't really mind, but things would get done much faster with people around to help. And for those who did help or who do intend to help, thank you.

(I'm actually thinking of making a TPW3 if the author doesn't go for it, imo it would be quite interesting if I added PvP in. <3)

Templating

When I see table formatting being copy-pasted across pages I think, "Why isn't there a template for that?" However, I'm not familiar with this game, so any help would be appreciated. Arcorann (talk) 12:04, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

You have the format down, just if there are secondary effects ( I think they go up to two ), add that as an optional field. Other than that, thanks! ♥★♦ (talk) 19:54, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
A second effects field and one for union characters and it should be good. --Morrolan (talk) 05:17, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
We should be good now, I just realized that creating a template for the avatars may be impractical. I'll continue on standardizing the pages. ♥★♦ (talk) 07:28, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
