Romaji name

I want to prob the community on the spelling of the name. Her name's hiragana spelling is "きっちょう やちえ". The current way (in-game romaji) is a legitimate spelling under hepburn. However, some people could like wapuro better: Yachie Kicchou. Just trowing that out there. Lebon14 (talk) 04:34, 12 August 2019 (UTC)

For consistency we should definitely have the "o" be an "ou" (Kitchou or Kicchou), since we do that for everyone else. No clue about "tch" or "cch", doesn't look like we have any precedent. Polaris (talk) 22:40, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
All other Japanese names are using wapuro as a romaji solution. So, that would make it "Kiccho" Lebon14 (talk) 02:41, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
Yea my vote's likewise for "Kicchou" Gilde (talk) 03:01, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
Oof, yeah, I ended up changing her name all over the wiki without even looking at this page. At least I was right in the end, lol. --Naudiz (talk) 05:26, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
On the orthography of Hepburn romaji, "きっちょう" is "kitchô". Then I suppose we should follow this example to spell "kitchou". This is the combination of the sounds "t" and "ch". If "kicchou", there would be the sound "c" in Japanese phonemes so as to be the combination of "c" and "ch". I've never seen the explanation to recommend "cch" like Hindi or Sanskrit --- both have the sound "c" and "ch" in their phonology. This should be, I think, one of the most frequent cases to avoid on Japanese romanization. masuo64 Talk 08:37, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
