Thank you for the welcome! 8D I'll do what I can to help out, particularly with tidying up, and in the music sections. Mizutori 10:41, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Album staff vs track staff

Currently I am leaving names in all of the tracks even if a single artist did them all. Before, it was "If one person did every track, put their name into the album staff list" but as I am just putting basically everyone up there (mainly arrangers and vocalists), it would then be hard to keep track of who actually did what. This does duplicate information, but I think it makes sense --Tsukihime 23:20, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

So should I just start leaving all the track information under each song? What I do is basically list everyone in the staff list, but leave the 'ambiguous info' under each track. So for example, I won't list the arranger for each song if it's always the same person, but if it's a vocal arrange with multiple vocalists/lyricist/arrangers etc then I've made sure to keep that specific information under each song.
But hey, if you really think we should keep all track information together anyway, I'll go back and edit those albums. Shall I? Mizutori 23:45, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Actually now that you put it that way, there wouldn't be a problem determining which artist did what tracks. However that would mean if you had say 10 tracks and one guy did 9 of them, we would repeat the same name for all 9 tracks as opposed to putting it at the top. If that is the case, then there is no need to revert the edits and in fact can continue to go with your plan --Tsukihime 20:34, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Phew, lol XD I was afraid I'd have to go through everything again... not that I won't eventually, orz? :V Mizutori 17:32, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't think we should tag categories for every group that a particular staff member came from. Just the main group that produced it should be enough. --Tsukihime 03:16, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

It probably looks like a lot of extra work for no good enough reason, but the reason I started doing that was because there are actually a lot of albums produced by main members of circles that would be hard to find otherwise. For example, there was an album I updated not too long ago that dBu had contributed to, but that particular track he hadn't released anywhere else. If someone wanted to find everything by that person the albums list would be far from sufficient, since those would just be the albums published by the circle; so then they could check the category section and find those there... That's what got me into the categorizing spree. XD
But lol, I know I didn't consult that with anyone, I apologize. I'll stop doing it until I get an approval u__u Mizutori 11:07, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
I generally don't ask for approval either (half of the major changes I've made did not go through consultation), and the idea sounds good.
The difference however is that the categories you've currently used aren't everything by the *person* but everything by the *circle* (ie: TAMUSIC vs TAM). I think that may cause confusion. I've wanted to have a category for every artist, but that didn't seem like a feasible option. --Tsukihime 14:24, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh... I see your point. Artist categories would definitely be better, but I guess that's for another time. I'll go delete those categories I tagged. Mizutori 17:28, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Public worksheet

I noticed you keep a list of things you have already done. I have created a worksheet for that purpose so that anyone that's wondering what hasn't been done can take a look at it so he doesn't look at things that have already been checked.

Worksheet

You can add new columns as you see fit --Tsukihime 19:13, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

lol I replied to this on the main talk page but either way, I'll be sure to use that! :D Mizutori 19:29, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Circle discography parser

Circle Discography parser. Sample output: NEUTRAL

I've released a simple parser for now. Currently it only

  • gets the article name and shows the proper display name (english if available, japanese otherwise)
  • shows the release date and its convention, if either are available
  • indicates whether the circle is a vocal music group at the end
  • Puts an album cover there, if available.

I didn't make the description because that would require me to parse the tracks themselves to figure out which games they're from, which would be tricky.

I've uploaded a new sheet to the music worksheet that contains all of the album information. They are sorted first by group then by release. All you have to do is highlight all the rows that you want and paste them into the parser and hit parse.

Note that you can also do some error checking easily by skimming through the album info and spot irregularities, fixing them, and updating sheet. Ignore the vocalist column for now, as I only used that to check whether they are a vocal group or not. It is not perfect because many albums still do not have all their album staff sections filled out.

Since discographies are a non-issue now, if any album covers/banner names are inconsistent, flag them with the move template (reason can be left out, unless there is no whatLinksHere provided). Update the spreadsheet with the would-be corrections, and then create the discography. When the files are renamed everything will work out. --Tsukihime 20:20, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Great!! 8DDD Thank you! One thing just occured to me though - would it be possible to have it display both the original and english name, like in the album article? (The romanized name isn't necessary I think). It's a bit strange otherwise, since the navigation template uses the original album names. Mizutori 12:34, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Everything you see on the worksheet can be displayed on the page, though I guess not everything would be useful in a discography. --Tsukihime 12:55, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Page has been fixed. I wish there was version control on webs for situations like this =\ --Tsukihime 14:20, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Planning on adding description support soon, as I'm currently including a column for "Sources represented" which basically goes through each track and creates a distinct list of games in the album --Tsukihime 16:36, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Phew. Looking forward to it 8D Mizutori 16:38, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Description support

Description support has been added. I've updated the album worksheet with a copy of all albums as they are today. Any changes that were made to the sheet that were not made to the actual articles themselves have been lost.

Usage is the same as before. Description can be improved if necessary. --Tsukihime 19:10, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Fantastic! 8DDD Oh man that is gonna save a lot of time! Thanks! Mizutori 19:17, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Staff listing

Please, take a look: Template_talk:MusicArticle#Staff_listing. --WGH 20:56, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Sekken'ya, Zekken'ya

I see you're taking care of those groups' articles and were the one to make the change, so could you fix the names back to correct spelling? And yes, the previous spelling was correct, the current one isn't. YouDoNotHavePermissionToEditOurSecretEliteWikiWithoutAnAccountHurr 07:42, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm not really the one maintaining those articles, I just went through them at some point in the past (I should update my user page, I know). I think you'd be better off asking WGH about this group and changes since he seems to maintain it actually. Also, are you sure I made those changes? The only thing I remember doing was redirecting all pages to 'Sekkenya (石鹸屋)', but those changes have since been reverted back to just Sekkenya. And actually, if it were up to me I'd have romanized the circle name as Sekken-ya (the ya being the shop suffix).
The guidelines just seem to state that the wiki uses 'Hepburn romanization' (and doesn't specify which particular one) so that's probably something to discuss. Mizutori 12:24, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, pointing out the problem here worked, I guess (should have made the change myself, but given the amount of work it'd require - name changes and redirects - I figure leaving it to regular editors is preferable). And yeah, history shows you made the change, but does that matter? As long as it's correct in the end. YouDoNotHavePermissionToEditOurSecretEliteWikiWithoutAnAccountHurr 16:39, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes, looks like it was taken care of xD. But wow, I guess I did make that change... :o Maybe I changed it to follow a naming format or something? (I'm confused lol) Anyway, yes, it's all about the content at the end of the day. Mizutori 14:02, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm confused why an apostrophe makes it any more correct, and the wiki article isn't helping me to understand. --Tsukihime 13:00, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
"nya" == にゃ. "n'ya" == "n-ya" == んや. They're two distinct sounds. YouDoNotHavePermissionToEditOurSecretEliteWikiWithoutAnAccountHurr 16:39, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh. That makes sense now --Tsukihime 14:20, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Featured albums in lyric pages

Don't know if you heard, but we came up with new methods on IRC for the lyrics template. Template_talk:Lyrics#.22Featured_in.22_albums --Tsukihime 17:00, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Yep yep, I heard when I saw your post a little while ago, so I changed the last lyrics page I did. XD (I should probably try going on the IRC sometime lol.) Mizutori 17:19, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Move flagged files

Any articles that reference files that will be moved should be edited to the would-be name. Then one wouldn't have to go back to edit them --Tsukihime 19:54, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Oh, damn. :O Sorry, I always forget. I just remembered I flagged a whole bunch of dBu ones too... sorry. D: I'll definitely keep it in mind for next time. Mizutori 19:58, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Additional langChecker support

I've added "Link checking" to my Lang Checker. It will now avoid wrapping any (wiki-)internal or external links with lang tags. This means you could take a music article (or any article for that matter) and just plug it in and have everything properly tagged without having to worry about fixing broken links to lyric pages. Give it a test and see if there are any bugs --Tsukihime 13:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

More useful tools~ :D Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try later! Mizutori 14:02, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
All of my tools are available on my user page --Tsukihime 14:20, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I know, I meant the additional support 8V Honestly I wouldn't be able to edit anything without those lol. Oh, that reminds me... Is there any chance you could make a parser similar to the japanese language tag one, but then for english (well, roman characters)? I'd use it for the occasional kanji block that has a lot of english everywhre. Pretty please? xD Mizutori 14:26, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I have been thinking of that, since the titlejp field may contain roman characters and I want to wrap it with en tags. However I've been looking for an efficient way to do it and haven't had any luck because I don't think there's a way to specify whether you're in a kanji-specific block or not (ie: the template automatically wraps all input with in lang ja) --Tsukihime 15:20, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

eS=S

So I've been looking at TRiANCE CODE and eS=S and vgmdb says they are the same group. So I went over to eS=S homepage and saw their discography, and TRiANCE CODE also has pretty much the same thing.

http://ess.iza-yoi.net/works_esep0006.html

http://triance-code.net/?p=55

Any idea what "eS=S goes to Next Stage >>>>>>>>" means (from their blog) --Tsukihime 18:26, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Wow, you confused me there lol. It's just a name change, really. I did some perusing and found a blog post on TRiANCE CODE's page that says he (o.k.o.G4) changed the circle name, but that since it's gonna take him a while to transfer everything over he's still using the old site (though this was back in 2010 lol). Everything released after Touhou Kouroumu 6 (201010-11) should be published under TRiANCE CODE. Mizutori 18:41, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Lyrics stubs

I don't think there is real need of creating lyrics pages stubs. Most of them are unlikely to get translated ever. I'm not saying that this practice is absolutely bad, but... It seems that you're doing unnecessary work. --WGH 15:24, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Hm, I dunno... between red links and stubs, stubs are probably better no? I also think it might ecourage people to add lyrics if they see the page exists (what with editing being easier than page creation for potential contributors and whatnot... I guess lol). If it's about the extra workload, please don't worry about it! I'm obsessive with detail so I prefer going all out with these things xD Oh, and it actually helps to tie lyrics pages together by their shared name if the page exists too. Mizutori 17:37, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
In my opinion, it's more important to update existing lyrics articles instead. --WGH 15:45, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
I think updating the old articles should still wait. There are still some unresolved issues and it would be best to wait until the lyrics pages standards are completed so we can update everything on the pages in one go while applying the template.
Also, Mizutori, we're having a change of plans in relation to the tracks-with-same-title issue, sorry for inconvenience. I'll post on the main talk page.
Most part of these discussions takes place on the irc so if you'd like to express your opinion (please do! We're kind of short on opinions...) come join the channel. BuraQ 16:19, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Please, don't do that anymore, if you're not going to fill at least transcription or translation. It's really pointless, and it poisons the wiki with articles that look like existing, but which are essentially empty. --WGH 20:43, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

No Catalog numbers

New category: Category:No_catalogno. Music article template updated to auto-categorize all articles without catalogno. Unfortunately some articles have "N/A" filled out for catalogno and I don't check for that (though I guess I could) --Tsukihime 15:19, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Community portal templates

I just went to add a new entry to the community portal and found it rather messy to go through due to all the CSS everywhere. Perhaps try putting them in templates? They seem to use the same code anyways --Tsukihime 19:49, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes please!! I wanted to do it but I'm not too good with making those, so if you could make them I'd be really happy lol. Mizutori 19:52, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Well I think it looks amazing regardless what others say >:3
I don't know if you knew this, but the thing was abandoned and very very depreciated.
But here you are out of nowhere came and made it a valuable resource (as it was suppose to be!)
I attempted this a while back, but yours owns mine by a long shot!
So don't worry, the other members just want it to be the best it can be!

♥★♦ 17:47, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Well thank you Nazeo XD Yes, the Community Portal really needed an overhaul! It also seems a lot of people didn't even know it existed before which is really worrying (it was on the side bar after all)... But anyway, I've always believed the way to get people invested into something is to give it an appealing coating first. Aesthetics do matter... Of course the content is important too, so hopefully it'll be used now. It's off to a good start too. :D
And oh, it's fine by me if people pick it apart, since it needs to meet everyone's demands! Luckily the only issue at the moment seems to be the fact that the CSS code makes editing a pain (it really is everywhere), but since there's plans to stick most of that into templates and out of sight it'll all work out anyway. :V Thanks for the support~! Mizutori 17:35, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

豚乙女 lyrics pages

Hey, just wanted to drop by and say thanks for cleaning up after my mess :P Still getting used to putting on all the right tags... Shearscape 04:05, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
