== About the alternate outfits from PoFV ==
Sorry for bothering but I posted the alternate colors in each character profile like the ones in Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream, but it's ok in the gallery I guess. I was wondering if the in game art of Reimu, Marisa and Sakuya from EOSD, PCB and MOF can be added to their profiles or their galleries, like this one without link to any page http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/File:ReimuPCB.png

TPW2 patch problem

Hi mister, have you checked the talk page? We currently have a problem with patch compatibility and construction: the old partial English patch doesn't work with the 1.05 patch from 2013, which adds more characters (Prismriver sisters).

I'd like to ask: do you have any idea of who or what group originally worked on the partial English patch? If not, do you know anybody that might be willing to help me with the programming, minor (and I mean minor) translations, or even just useful information?

Currently, I'm trying to fuse both patches into one. It shouldn't be that hard programming-wise even though I have never had contact with this game's files before, but even if I have success, a minor part - other than the part already left untranslated by the partial English patch - would be in Japanese. I can attempt to identify exactly what strings need translating, and even translate them myself with Google (lol please), but it would be much more helpful both for me and for those who are still interested in the game to have someone who could return simple translations.

Either way, thank you for your time, and sorry to bother.

Hello there :), I'd love to help, but unfortunately I know next to nothing about the partial English patches – not even who created these patches. I can't recall who'd want to help, but there're always other users on the wiki who're likely to be a lot more helpful than I am. I hope the project goes well though, and don't worry, you're not bothering anyone. :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 16:10, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
I see... thanks for the encouragement. I think nobody was working on the problem mostly because it was unknown though, so it should be okay now that we've at least identified the problem. -- Naï (talk) 16:38, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

PNGs to GIFs

There is no reason to convert PNGs to GIFs. Please refrain from doing so. Mamizou (talk) 00:00, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

You need to undo all of your edits requesting deletion of PNGs, and request deleting of the GIFs. I'm not going to clean up your mess for you. Mamizou (talk) 00:06, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi there, my reason I did this is because all I thought was to minimise the size of the images by using GIFs wherever possible for less time of download, but if you don't want me to do that, then that's fine. I didn't ask on a talk page or anything whether this was okay to do because I'd expect nobody to reply to such matter due to seeing various talk posts not being responded to, including ones by me, which does frustrate me a bit when something might need fixing. However, I've no trouble in reverting the edits since you've noted me about this early, so I'll get right on it. Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 00:41, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
It's fine, it's just an unnecessary change without any real benefit. PNG can actually reduce some images smaller than GIF anyway. I'd rather stay away from very old formats. Thanks for cleaning it up. Mamizou (talk) 01:05, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Sorted, and thanks for the heads up by the way. Like many would say, you make mistakes, you learn from them and you move on. But honestly though, if there's anything that I can help with, I'll try my best to contribute as I do like to be helpful at times when it's possible :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 01:55, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

erhu girl not being Satsuki Rin

Sorry for the late, just came back home after a hard week in college. Well, actually the source is form the MoTK forums in the topic 'ZUN and Touhou status update'. Here the user "cuc" which is very reliable and truthful provided the info about a topic in a japanse twitter about an user of this media trying to ask ZUN about the identity of the erhu girl. Basically, the question where if the erhu girl was a character planned to appear in EoSD and ZUN's answer to this question was negative. Well, I'm just assuming but it's pretty obvious that the character "planned to appear in EoSD" was Rin. I think with such info it should be clear what to do, but it's just my opinion. Thanks ;).

Marisa Kirisame page edits

Thanks for pointing out those guidelines. I'll try to keep within the English variant present in an article as I edit.

I do have a question though. In this excerpt:

  • In PC-98 canon, Marisa is depicted as having red eyes and red hair in Story of Eastern Wonderland, wearing a purple witch's outfit with a white bow on her hat. However, her appearance quickly changes with Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream, where she has yellow eyes and blonde hair similar to the Windows canon, which stays with her for the rest of the series. There was one instance where she grew black devil-like wings. In Mystic Square, her outfit changes from purple to black, which also stays with her for the rest of the series, and her hat gains faint pink frills.

Is it correct in any variant of English to write "stays" here instead of "stay"? It is referring to something plural: Her yellow eyes and blonde hair. So shouldn't they "stay" with her? - Karob (talk) 00:57, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

No probs :). I try to ensure that spelling and grammar aren't changed in an edit from one variety to another, so it is fair with all English-speaking users that are from different countries who have the right to use their form of English. (I also made the same mistake changing some Americanisms to British before, so I went to do some research and created the guideline months ago so even I can't change spellings and the like.)
Anyway, about 'stays'. From what I know, there's no variety to both 'stay' and 'stays', so they can be used internationally. In this case, it's not a plural that refers to many things (which plurals are normally used in nouns) and I saw it as a verb that means, to this case, "Marisa had kept her appearance the same throughout the series", or simply 'keeps', 'remains' or 'continue with'. I thought it was more natural to use 'stays' because, for example, if you want to keep something, it 'stays' with you. "To this day, Marisa has had blonde hair and yellow eyes since PoDD because it 'stayed' with her," which it another way of stating Marisa's standard appearance. I can't think of a way to use 'stay' in relation to Marisa's appearance, but I can say this example: "Marisa needs to stay with Reimu."
Overall, it makes sense to me to use 'stays' in general English, but if it still doesn't make sense, it can always be re-worded. :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 14:27, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. :) So, the original sentence is:
  • "However, her appearance quickly changes with Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream, where she has yellow eyes and blonde hair similar to the Windows canon, which stays with her for the rest of the series."
If "stays" is referring to her appearance, then we can remove the middle clause to get the sentence:
This results in a sentence that is not grammatically correct. If, however, "stays" is referring to her yellow eyes and blonde hair, then we can remove some material to focus on the clause:
  • "She has yellow eyes and blonde hair which stays with her for the rest of the series."
This is also not grammatically correct because "stays" is now referring to a plural (blonde hair and yellow eyes), similar to if we had written:
  • "Marisa has a bronze mushroom and a broken broomstick which stays with her for the rest of the fanfiction.
Do you see how in this case the word "stay" should be used instead of "stays"?
If it still appears to you that "stays" should be used, then the wording probably is easy to perceive multiple ways, and perhaps a rewording is due, such as:
  • "However, her appearance quickly changes with Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream, where she has yellow eyes and blonde hair similar to the Windows canon. This appearance stays with her for the rest of the series."
That may be a better wording anyway since it avoids any ambiguity. Maybe instead of babbling about the usage of "stay" vs "stays" I should have just suggested that. Grin.
- Karob (talk) 08:55, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
I see. Well, I suppose the latter sentence looks like the most grammatically correct based on what you've stated here. I've changed the sentence in Marisa's page. :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 13:35, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Great, thanks! - Karob (talk) 21:26, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Project Characters reminder

You signed up for Touhou Wiki:Project Characters, it would be nice if you please do your work. If you don't want to, edit the page and sign yourself off the list. Thank you! --Choja (talk) 01:29, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm not understanding what you're trying to suggest because I happen to try my very best at editing the character pages whenever possible, which links to the contribution of this project. For a starter, forget about the to-do list, don't you know how difficult it can be to keep all character pages up-to-date, organised and correct to the guidelines (especially if alot of it is done by one person)? For e.g. the Seihou character articles are hard to write up about due to the lack of official content; trying to clearly describe a character's ability, personality, relationships, story/gameplay in-game, etc. can also a struggle; and where it says "See if 13.5 sprites for background characters are lying around", it took some good time for me to upload those to the wiki and add them to each article; I could go on.
I mean (just throwing it out there), I don't see you on the list, nor have I ever seen you edit a character page; if you want to fix something, then by all means go for it. You needn't poke the people on the list that appears to not do any work. Yes, I know that the others on the list haven't appeared to have made a contribution to the character pages for a while, but should it be a bother? It sounds like you're poking us because we're slacking on the job; that's never true. Don't forget that everyone who volunteered is because we have an interest. Only because there's a to-do list doesn't mean we must to do the jobs listed; we do them when we want to have a go at tackling them. I don't mean to brag on about this if I am, but I hope that clears it. Cheers :) Tony64 (Talk/Con.) 15:50, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your big help

Hi there! SakuraMiya/Ximsol182 here! I see that you have started creating character pages for the Len'en characters. I created an account in the Touhou wiki, but for some reason I couldn't create any article, so I decided to create a wiki about Len'en to attract the attention of the fans so they would create the articles here. Now that I logged in again after so long, I see that I can suddenly create articles, so I'll start my job right now and delete the wiki, since its purpose is completed. Thank you for noticing my articles for Len'en.--SakuraMiya (talk) 03:34, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Can you help me once again?

From translating the bits I know from the Extra Stage, I realized that Tenkai's actual surname is Zuifon, not Zuifeng. In Kuroji's scenario, Saragimaru says it (like the romanization of Yuyuko's surname, from Saigyouzi to Saigyouji). Can you help me changing the name in all the pages Tenkai is mentioned?

What does "Unlockable Character" mean?

"Unlockable Character" means a locked character that soon will be unlocked, and later it will be playable. (I'm sure everyone already know this.) It may not say "Playable", but later it will become playable. Or you can say "Unlockable Character (Playable)" if that's okay for you, Tony64. Nintenchris5963 (talk)
