Description

Tetsuwan Tokage Tanchiki are a Japanese doujin music circle known for their arrangements of themes from the Touhou Project series. The circle's music style can be broadly be described as Hard or Punk Rock with arrangements being characterized by intertwining lead & rhythm guitar, heavy bass and a raw or "unfiltered" sounding mix and mastering. One of the most striking characteristics of the the circle's arrangement style is 白トカゲ's vocals that alternates between a clear spoken tone and an aggressive voice crackling yell (not to be confused with the growls popularized by extreme Metals) sparingly used to accent arrangements. Unlike most Touhou arrangement circles the vocals for Tetsuwan Tokage Tanchiki are primarily single tracked resulting in an authentic albeit rough around the edges sound, chorus support is usually provided on at least one song per album by とんがらし who also acts as an advisor for the circle.

In addition to the circle's own album releases they also regularly contribute guest arrangements to albums by groups like TV SHOP ON THE SECOND FLOOR and 極東アウトブレイク対策本部/極東指定雑音団 in addition to having contributed to a number of others (see guest appearances), this is significant since the circle has yet to re-release a previously released track including any of their guest works or re-arrange a previously arranged theme.
