Notes[edit]

  1. A naruko (鳴子) is a type of wooden clapper, historically used as part of a tripwire to scare animals away from crops.
  2. Portmanteau of makibishi and bit. In the series Ninja Slayer, makibishi are classified as an 'inhumane weapon' that was banned in the Edo period.
  3. Pun on the series Mahōjin Guru Guru.
  4. 一番槍 (lit. 'first spear'): spear thrown to signal the start of a battle
  5. Reference to the Siege of Osaka, made up of the 'Winter Siege' in 1614 and 'Summer Siege' in 1615.
  6. Reference to Yuri Kamanosuke, one of the Sanada Ten Braves. His name contains the character for "sickle", hence the usage of Ichiyou's kusari-gamas in this spell.
  7. Reference to Miyoshi Seikai and Miyoshi Ise of the Sanada Ten Braves, both said to be nyūdō monks.
  8. Reference to Nezu Jinpachi of the Sanada Ten Braves.
  9. Kirigakure can mean literally "hiding in mist" or "concealed by mist".
