Translation
She hurls countless pebbles out of nowhere.

It's said that the true nature of this phenomenon is a high wind created

by the excessive speed of a tengu passing right in front of one's eyes.

It's the same principle as the knifehand strike of a certain country's armed forces.

Translation
She hurls countless pebbles out of nowhere.

A warning meant for the humans who've set foot on the tengu's mountain.

If you ignore it, they might throw boulders at you as well.

If you ignored THAT and dug a tunnel, it'd be just outrageous.

Translation
She hurls countless pebbles out of nowhere.

At a glance, it seems like a poltergeist phenomenon,

but since Gensokyo's poltergeists are only interested in

musical instruments, it's obviously a tengu's doing.

Translation
She hurls countless pebbles out of nowhere.

The surprise is that you're actually being aimed at

from all sides by a huge number of crows, but ordinary

humans ought not to notice that.

Translation
You're set upon from all sides with the best mobility in Gensokyo.

This might be less danmaku, and more just tackling you by riding a

supernaturally-created gust of wind.

Translation
You're set upon from all sides with the best mobility in Gensokyo.

Tengu are actually different beings from wind gods, but their figure

when flying far and wide on gusts of wind definitely looks like

something divine.

Translation
You're set upon from all sides with the best mobility in Gensokyo.

With this card, you rapidly close in on your opponent. If you don't have

a proper grasp of coordination for it, it'll be far more of a kamikaze attack

than a wind god.

Translation
You're set upon from all sides with the best mobility in Gensokyo.

Speaking of wind gods, they're often friends with thunder gods. Could there be

a Thunder God Girl somewhere in Gensokyo?

Translation
A spell that summons familiars one after another, like shooting stars.

It was once said that meteors were "a tengu's doin'!",

but most tengu don't have enough power to control actual meteorites.

Translation
A spell that summons familiars one after another, like shooting stars.

The familiars are actually crows that failed to become tengu, though.

In the past, people referred to tengu as Amakitsune.

The kanji for "tengu" (狗) and "kitsune" (狐) look similar, don't they?

Translation
A spell that summons familiars one after another, like shooting stars.

Saying one's wish before a shooting star disappears is next to impossible.

If you waited at the point of impact, you might be able to make the wish, in exchange for your life.

Well, no, getting to the point of impact would be next to impossible too.

Aya focuses her mind and fires a single high-speed bullet that'll bring certain death.

Translation
An outstanding treasure of the tengu world, said to blow everything away.

If you use this as a replacement for a fan to cool off, it'll blow away

the clothes you're wearing, let alone the heat. If she released an

adult-oriented weekly magazine, there'd be little reason not to use this.

Notes[edit]

  1. "Tengu gravel" is an alleged supernatural phenomenon where gravel flies at people from nowhere.
  2. Aya's main theme, first used in Phantasmagoria of Flower View.
  3. The first recorded instance of the word "tengu" in the Nihon Shoki is in reference to a mysterious flying object, described as "not a shooting star, but the tengu Amakitsune".
