-- The Hakurei Shrine.

After emerging victorious from a truly heated battle with Homura,
Reimu explored the area a bit more.
But soon afterwards, before she could find anything particularly interesting...
Something pushed her out of the Dream World.

???: "Hellooo. Anyone home?"

Reimu: "You again?! What are you doing here?!
The incident's still happening, you know!
You'll only bring destruction to the shrine!"

Homura: "Relax, relax. I'll only be here for a short while.
Plus, I just wanna chat. It's been a while since I've met a human as courageous as you!"

Reimu: "Can it wait for later? Like, maybe after the incident is over?"

Homura: "Alright, fine. I just saw that you were struggling on what to do with the incident,
so I was gonna offer you some help, but have it your way."

Reimu: "Huh? Hm.
Well, you know how things work over there, so maybe some help wouldn't hurt.
(Although it'd be even better if you offered a donation too)"

Homura: "I'm the kind of god who wants to challenge humans, though, so I'm still not gonna tell you everything. You'll have to piece things together yourself."

Reimu: "(HEY! You liar!)"

(...)

Homura: "So, you know those Elemental Orbs? The ones you were carrying when you fought me earlier.
Those are some kind of advanced-tech thingy that my friend made.
I've got no clue how they work, but they used to bring us gods and humans a lot closer together.
They're a two-way communiction tool, and also a way for us to lend our power to humans in need.
To put it another way, you could say that they're our go-shintai.
But in order to make sure that the humans we granted power to were worthy, I came up with a little test, too..."

Homura: "You lay a bunch of different kinds of orbs out on a board,
and each of them have advantages and disadvantages over each other, naturally.
Our would-be summoner has to pick out orbs one at a time, and swap them around
to line up as many orbs of the same kind as possible.
Simple, isn't it?"

Reimu: "Uh..."

Homura: "Yeah, you'd THINK. But modern-day humans can't even perform a little task like that!
That's why we're stuck in this whole mess, honestly.
Humans no longer have faith in us, and those bogus orbs totally didn't work the way she said they would!"

Reimu: "(To be fair, that thing you just described sounds really complicated...)
Well, I still have more questions, but--"

Homura: "Like I said, you'll have to think about it yourself!
I've already said enough for you to figure out your next step.
Plus, if I don't get moving, SHE'S gonna find me again.
So, I wish you luck in getting this incident resolved soon, Ms. Shrine Maiden!
Although I'm certainly not a god of luck. Hahaha!"

Homura: "I'll be looking forward to the day of your victory! Ciao!"

Reimu was left in the dark again, with Homura's words echoing in her head.
What could she possibly infer from the things that the god had told her?

Just what had happened between these gods, and how many of them were left...?

Ending No.02: Allow me to tell you a tale. It took place several years ago...
Game Clear!
Let's try to clear the game with other elements next time.
