Notes[edit]

  1. 1.0 1.1 A reference to Shigeru Mizuki's 1960s manga Kappa no Sanpei (河童の三平), as well as to Kaneko's 1996 fighting game Ooedo Fight (大江戸ファイト). A kappa character in the game is named Sanpei as a reference to the manga. One of his special moves, Jet Shoot, resembles this attack.
  2. A reference to the Blaster weapon from Namco's 1982 shooting game Xevious. The weapon fires air-to-surface bombs at a crosshair, much like in this attack. One of Nitori's basic projectiles resembles the Zapper weapon from the game, as well.
  3. A reference to the Photon Torpedo weapon from Konami's shooting game series Gradius.
  4. A reference to the Umihara Kawase platformer series. The "Rubber Ring" grappling hook is the titular character's iconic weapon. This attack's name is also a reference to the most recent game in the series, Farewell Umihara Kawase.
  5. ミズバク大回転 (mizubaku daikaiten): Partial homophone and possible reference to the arcade game ミズバク大冒険 (mizubaku daibouken), known in English as Liquid Kids.
  6. Kiku-ichimonji: a series of 13 swords made by swordsmiths in attendance to Emperor Go-Toba in the year 1208.
  7. Possible reference to Konami's shooting game series Parodius. "Kiku-ichimonji" is used as the name of a vertical laser power-up resembling the one Nitori uses here.
  8. A possible parody of the video game In the Hunt, originally called "Great War Beneath the Sea" (海底大戦争) in Japanese.
  9. A possible reference to Taito's arcade game series Bubble Bobble. The attack also resembles a special move (Water Jail) belonging to the Darkstalkers character Aulbath/Rikuo.
  10. This attack is near-identical in appearance to Grenade Launcher, Solid Snake's Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  11. Possible reference to the Super Scope, and/or Twilight Frontier's previous game DynaMarisa 3D.
