Yuyuko beats Reimu[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you have the makings of a good ghost.[1]

Yuyuko beats Marisa[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you don't seem to have a very long lifespan.

Yuyuko beats Sakuya[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you're probably going to become a mean aunt.

Yuyuko beats Alice[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you're like Gulliver.[2]

Yuyuko beats Patchouli[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you're like a morning glory.[3]

Yuyuko beats Youmu[edit]

Yuyuko

Oh my, if it isn't Youmu.
Have you finished sweeping the grounds?

Yuyuko beats Remilia[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you're like an umbrella.[4]

Yuyuko beats Yukari[edit]

Yuyuko

Hey, Yukari... Have you had a couple screws loose
in your head lately?[5]

Yuyuko beats Suika[edit]

Yuyuko

Speaking of which...

I've picked up thin green planks with your name
on them. Are those yours?[6]

Yuyuko beats Meiling[edit]

Yuyuko

I've been thinking...
you're quite plain.

Yuyuko beats someone[edit]

Yuyuko

Ah~, that was horrible.
Another round?

Yuyuko

It'll... take a while before you can
fight with your feet off the ground.[7]

Yuyuko

……そう。

You know why they call ghosts ghosts?
...Right.

Notes[edit]

  1. When we read this dialogue after another phrase — "fight with your feet off the ground" — and Reimu's ability "Capable of flying in the air", Yuyuko is technically snobbing Reimu to point out that she and her way of battle isn't well-grounded to see that her legs are in the air.
  2. You must remember Gulliver in country of Lilliput, Alice standing in legion of dolls.
  3. The name of morning glory's petal is "you" (), which consists of the names of Seven Luminaries or Patchouli's magic.
  4. The European umbrella was once called bat umbrella (蝙蝠傘 koumori-gasa). And of course Yuyuko should be remembering in her mind that Remilia can transform herself into a cloud of bats and she never goes out without parasol.
  5. Double meanings: Yukari's lookings get fat, and her personality gets mild.
  6. A pun of Suika and Suica, the smart card on train lines around Japanese capital city.
  7. There is a Japanese idiom "to be grounded" "firmly realistic"; lit."get one's legs on the ground" (地に足のついた chi ni ashi no tsuita). And it is a wordplay related to Japanese common sense of ghosts, they have no legs and floats above the ground.
