| Hello. I'm ZUN, pleased to meet you.
| It's fallen out of use recently, but a long time ago, when the Internet wasn't mainstream, kids used to use the word "oni" to strengthen words.
| So you would have words like "oniuma", with the same meaning as "gekiuma (totally delicious)", and I remember thinking that it didn't sound very tasty to me.
| I mean, no matter what, it makes you think of the "onigoroshi" they sell in convenience stores. If you looked at kids at the time, they'd use "onigoroshi" to mean "super-killing", and probably think of some sort of genocidal alcholic drink.
| However, if a human was to take one sip of an oni, it would be like totally passing out from a single drink. At least, that's what I imagine. In that sense, the sake of the onis might actually be a genocidal drink.
| I think maybe those really imaginative kids got the "oni" prefix from the onigoroshi after seeing it in a convenience store. Though, just like the oni, they went completely extinct too.
