The gameplay of the game follows the style of its predecessor, deriving directly from that of Impossible Spell Card — a progressively unlockable act/scene scheme with bring-along items — allowing players to bring up to 3 special runes that contribute with different powerups depending on its category.
Story
- The following text is the game's prologue:
---At the Human Village.
The scattered belongings on the streets, the ajar doors, the mysterious silence - they all denounce terrible news. An imminent disaster.
A giant hurricane devastates Gensokyo. Many places being completely wiped out. For now, its path has put the village on mercy, but how much longer until it reaches important landmarks?
A myriad of arcane runes and mystic items also get in the hands of folk, amplifying the scale of the incident twofold.
Taking the interest of incident solvers and profiteers, many go out to uncover the secrets of this unprecedented event.

Trivia
The title has an ungrammatical word in it; Hauer is a German word that means hewer, as well as miner, but it is not spelled with an umlaut on the U.
