Character Overview and Comments
Recruitment
  • 10F: She and Sakuya are blocking the way to 11F, defeat them and they will join you. She is required to beat the game.
Play Notes Remilia has the dubious honor of possessing only one offensive spellcard, although Spear the Gungnir is at least a solid attack to have; good power, delay, and increased accuracy. Remi certainly has the ability to back it up, packing excellent stats across the board and largely good resistances and affinities. If her base numbers aren't good enough, Curse of Vlad Tepes can buff her up even further, although beware - it inflicts Poison, Paralysis, and Heavy to Remi, and her resistances to those ailments are poor. Make sure she has equipment to prevent them or someone like Meiling to cure her posthaste.

Her skills are likewise general-purpose. Majesty is her best skill in long battles as the boost, while seemingly small, can add up over several turns, particularly in combination with Curse of Vlad Tepes. Last Fortress gives her a secondary source of stat increase as allies fall over the course of a boss fight, while Mental Concentration plays well with her ability to stay in and attack. Adversity is great against any enemy that uses ailments or debuffs. Impact Attack is a bit situational, but can be helpful against enemies with no SHK resistance, or alternatively, used in conjunction with the Guardian's Shield Bash for a higher SHK chance.

Plus Disk buffed her Attack, Defence and Mind growths, to the point where all 3 stats are now some of the highest in the playable cast (they were originally 15.0, 9.8 and 9.6 respectively).

Piercing Attack 2 5 Minimum damage from any attack will always be equal to (SLv * 20)% of the attack's pre-defense, pre-multiplier damage, regardless of the enemy's DEF/MND.
Comments
Remilia's awakening boosts her away from her previous status as a limited-move noble with little to speak of other than high stats. Bad Lady Scramble is technically unimpressive in all aspects, but simply being all-target and DRK elemental is enough to be a valuable addition to her arsenal. Meanwhile, Bloodsuck improves Spear the Gungnir and any single-target subclass attacks by having them restore 16% of Remilia's HP, buff all her stats by 8% (which combined with Majesty means a 14% boost per turn as long as she is attacking), and a flat damage increase on top of it all, allowing her to maintain immense self-buffs while regenerating a good chunk of her high HP. Proof of Kinship is especially useful on the large SDM family. And possibly the least impressive addition, Piercing Attack still allows Remilia to deal with the pesky almost-invulnerable enemies and bosses that stymie most other characters.

Character Overview and Comments
Recruitment
  • 10F: She and Remilia are blocking the way to 11F, defeat them and they will join you. She is required to beat the game.
Play Notes Sakuya possesses some of the most well-rounded numbers of any character in the game - no affinities under 100, decent-to-good ailment resists, and no particularly low stats. Her first two spellcards are both very cheap and have increased accuracy, while Soul Sculpture is the third spell you'll get that has perfect accuracy - nice against annoyingly dodgy foes. However, you should keep in mind that Killing Doll has a simply enormous defense factor, so Sakuya could use some access to subclass attacks for high DEF foes. While she lost her huge self Speed buff from LoT1, she can still buff your vanguard's Speed and she got a new trick in Private Square, which costs a whopping 16 MP but can briefly halt an entire enemy party. She can really be set up to do just about anything, especially once you bring subclasses into the mix.

Her skills are mostly on the offensive side. She has access to the amazing Extra Attack skill, which significantly improves her damage and support spells, although it was unfortunately nerfed in Plus Disk's release (it should be noted that due to how it works, extra casts of Private Square do nothing but waste MP). An Eye for an Eye powers her up when she gets hit and Flashing Murder makes all her spells capable of inducing Paralysis. Topping it all off is Piercing Attack, which lets her finish off the random enemies with low hp, but immense defense (do note that because Killing Doll has a very weak base formula with a high multiplier, its Piercing damage is weaker than even a Piercing normal Attack). Jack the Ludo Bile is expensive, but gives her an even bigger attack increase if you have her use Lunar Clock a few times or have another buffing character support her, boosting her ATK to significant values, especially in tandem with the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

When the user receives damage, the existing counter is halved. The counter maxes at 20.
Sakuya's World 1 128 Private Square's PAR effect is increased to (3300+SLv*300) (goes from 3600 at level 1 to 4800 at level 5). Also, when the user is in the front, the duration of enemy irresistable PAR-inducing attacks will be greatly reduced (PAR duration is reduced by ~90%).
Proof of Kinship 1 100 The user's synergy skill will grant half of its bonus for every synergy partner who is in the backline.
Comments
Sakuya's awakening skills provide her with a source of damage increase in Jack the Ripper's Silver Knife. At maximum stacks it can provide her with a 100% damage boost, though to obtain that level Sakuya must act frequently yet never receive damage; something that grows difficult as Speed grows higher, and sadly it does not stack from Extra Attack procs. Given her ability to SPD buff and benefit from it though, it might be useful to call her out after a long delay attack to act a couple of times before retreating again. Alternatively, since Sakuya's base Evasion is not too shabby, focusing on increasing her ability to dodge can be surprisingly effective, this works out best with the whole SDM team, since SDM Residents does boost her EVA; combined with EVA Boost and a subclass like Ninja that further boosts EVA, Sakuya can become fairly evasive, making it easier to keep the counter high. If you have Akyuu, her ability to grant Invincibility can also be used to prevent Sakuya from losing her counter stacks, since receiving 0 damage does not decrease it. On the other hand, Sakuya's World boosts Lv5 Private Square's PAR effect from 2800 to 4800, which can be used to buy some more time for the team to act, including switching her out and back in to nullify the delay. Sakuya's World also greatly reduces the effect of irresistable PAR attacks; though these are basically limited to her own Shadow fights. Proof of Kinship grants her an attack boost that is amplified by Jack the Ripper's Silver Knife, and for SDM residents it will always have an effect, so that's quite welcome too.

Recruitment

  • 12F: If you chose to recruit Suwako first, talk to Kanako in the lower part of 12F after you have found an event with sword marks to recruit her. She is required to beat the game.
Play Notes Kanako is a mage who packs a bit less raw power than some of your other mages but makes up for it with considerable bulk; her Defense is top-notch for a caster and she's definitely capable of taking a stray hit or two. Once she has some defensive investment, her lower power becomes less of an issue, as her longer lifespan means she doesn't risk dying as much as a glass cannon. Two of her spells hit enemies' Defense, and Beautiful Spring like Suiga is both her strongest single-target spell and pretty much the only Cold nuke in the game. It's even capable of debuffing Attack and Magic. Virtue of Wind God is fairly powerful, but also slow.

Her skills give her an edge in prolonged battles. Majesty is as excellent on Kanako as it is on anyone else. Strong Faith and Desperation allow her to gains extra power as well as MP regeneration when she is injured, again playing to her better-than-average durability, and Sky Creation is a large and easy-to-satisfy damage increase.

Comments
Kanako's skills are quite simple damage and stat increases, but for Kanako who is a bulky stay-in attacker they're all very welcomed. Sacred Authority of the Gods works like a Fighting Spirit that doesn't disappear upon switching out and gives more damage bonus, giving Kanako an easy-to-get, and no-maintenance-required 50% damage boost, plus it cuts incoming damage to three quarters as well. Majesty+ increases her passive self-buff from 6% to 9% as well; with a Strategist it's enough to let her maintain an impressive baseline of around 66% without needing rebuffs. Proof of Kinship provides her with a third source of stat increase, or rather it strengthens a skill she already has so that even if Suwako is in the back (as she is prone to be), Kanako will receive half of its benefits. Even without any complicated mechanics (or perhaps because of it), Kanako's overall capabilities can greatly increase from these skills, and she can appreciate every aspect of them.

Recruitment
  • 10F: Defeat the FOE on the west side of the map, then talk to Suwako to recruit her.
  • 12F: If you chose to recruit Kanako first, talk to Suwako in the lower part of 12F after you have found an event with sword marks to recruit her. She is required to beat the game.
Play Notes Suwako is an offensive character with the somewhat unique ability to be built to focus on either offensive stat. Her physical spellcards govern her single-target attacks: Moriya's Iron Ring is not very strong but it features a powerful Paralysis effect, while Long-Arm and Long-Leg is a nuke with high power and delay. On the other hand, her magical spellcards are multi-target attacks: Froggy Braves the Elements is fairly cheap and it supports itself by applying a sizable Mind debuff, while Mishaguji-sama has higher power in exchange for higher cost and delay, and a weaker debuff. She has excellent power regardless of which side she chooses, and unlike in LoT1, the ability to reset her level-up bonus at any time means that she is no longer limited in one direction. Her price to pay is extreme frailty on both sides of the spectrum; she cannot take a hit well from anything, and as such requires protection and timing to ensure that she does not receive those hits.

She has an excellent skill in Kero Kero power, which gives her a power boost regardless of her current main attacking stat. Native God of the Earth and Quickwitted are fairly situational, since Suwako isn't likely to survive hits in the first place. Earth Creation can be difficult to use since it requires putting her in the most vulnerable slot, but since Suwako is suited for hit-and-run situations, she can take the leftmost slot when she knows she'll escape before the boss attacks - or when she's willing to take a hit for the team in order to get a boosted nuke out.

Comments
Suwako receives great benefits for her hit-and-run playstyle from her awakening. Froggy's Hibernation is a damage boost of up to 100% that only charges when Suwako receives a turn in the back, so it pretty much forces Suwako to play that way to receive this sizable boost, though it really suits Suwako just fine. Chytridiomycosis Resistance might seem out of place for this playstyle, but works perfectly with Native God of the Earth; increase her HP and affinities using the tools available in Plus Disk so she can survive one hit, and she'll recover it all when she swaps out. With enough base stat boosts, she can potentially take the leftmost slot long-term, swapping with an Instant Attack character when hit to heal, and moving right back into place immediately to continue nuking away. Proof of Kinship isn't as useful for her as the other two Moriya family members, but it may still occasionally come in handy.

  • 6F: Defeat Tenshi blocking the way in front of the stairs for 7F.
  • 9F: Defeat Tenshi blocking the way in front of the stairs for 10F.
  • 12F: Defeat Tenshi blocking the way in front of the stairs for 13F. She joins following the battle. She is required to beat the game.
Play Notes Tenshi is a tank who does her job through sheer defensive might. Her combined Defense and Mind are far and away the highest in the game; attacks that would flatten most other characters will just bounce off of Tenshi, especially after State of Enlightenment powers up her defenses to the max. Be sure to equip her with protection from Paralysis and Heavy or you'll risk turning her into a dead weight as well (though depending on the situation PAR can be beneficial, since Tenshi stays at maximum defenses for longer). A ho-hum HP count makes her more vulnerable to defense-piercing attacks, and rather low Speed mean she's pretty much limited to absorbing damage and switching allies out. Still, being able to strip buffs off of an enemy via Sword of Hisou can be invaluable in certain fights, and her other attacks can also somewhat fill a debuff role.

Her skills are solidly defensive. Free From Worldly Thoughts can protect your front line from Physical damage, and Murakumo's Former Owner can soothe your team's wounds if she herself has a debuff or ailment. She can also buff your vanguard's stats if she's in the leftmost slot and performs a switch, making her a good switcher that helps maintain your team's buffs. Sword of Hisou's Owner can also turn all her attacks into buff removers (it also stacks with Sword of Hisou itself for a max of 64% buff removal chance). Enduring Celestial lets Tenshi get a passive defense buff automatically in every battle; not too important in bosses where she'll likely open with State of Enlightenment, but helpful in random fights. Finally, her resistances and affinities can and should be boosted up.

Finally, it's worth noting that even though Tenshi's base Attack isn't that great, her spellcards have surprisingly good formulas, so with sufficient investment, and as long as you're also keeping Iku on the front for the huge offensive boost from Girl of Bhava-agra, she can be a pretty decent NTR/SPI attacker.

Name Max Lvl Cost Description
High-Spirited Sword 1 60 If the user has DEF or MND buffs, her ATK is increased by 1/5 of the total magnitude of her DEF and MND buffs.
Huge Temperament Keystone 15 10 When the user hits a weakness, increase Temperament Keystone counter by 3. Increase the user's all stats (including ACC and EVA) by (counter * 2)%. When the user takes a turn or is switched to the back, reduce the counter by 1. The counter maxes at (SLv).
7 Peaches of Immortality 7 30 Increase the user's base HP by (SLv * 7).
Comments
Since tanking attacks just by relying on high DEF and MND doesn't really work that well in Plus Disk, Tenshi's awakening skills boost her offensive potential instead. High-Spirited Sword and Huge Temperament Keystone both can provide her with a percentage increase in ATK; the former is activated by DEF/MND buffs (which Tenshi can max out in one move for +40% ATK) and the latter by striking weaknesses (which may be more of a problem, but can be done with subclassing for all elements but MYS); all of these percentage ATK boosts play very well with all the available base stat increases in Plus Disk, so be sure to reserve your gems and boosting tomes for her to maximize these benefits. 7 Peaches of Immortality, on the other hand, boosts up her one mediocre defensive stat; with a 4.9 boost her HP reaches 16.7, which is well above average (Its point efficiency is somewhere in-between HP Boost and HP Boost 2). Tenshi can become a pretty powerful bulky attacker with all these skills, particularly if she also gets the offensive boost from Girl of Bhava-agra.

Character Overview and Comments
Recruitment
  • Have both Mokou and Kaguya recruited to make her first event on 10F appear.
  • Find an event involving Remilia and Sakuya on 11F
  • Find Flandre at the southeastern part of 12F. Then she will be found behind the rock on northeastern past of the same floor.
  • Have more than 60 achievements to pass through the rock on the right side.
  • Meiling, Patchouli, Remilia and Sakuya must each have 300 BP or more and you must kill 30 FOEs before you can fight her.
Play Notes The younger Scarlet is a self-destructive attacker who provides some of the highest damage output in the game at the cost of severe recklessness. All three of Flandre's spellcards have some kind of drawback - Starbow Break, her "safe" spell, drains her own HP while Forbidden Fruit and Laevateinn drain MP from your vanguard as well as reducing everyone's timebar. Don't try to use the latter two unless you're sure they'll end the battle; timebar delays alone can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Combine all this with her overall frailty and you have someone that cannot be used without careful strategic decisions and timing. Play her as you would any other glass cannon - switch her in during a safe moment, then get her out.

Flan's personal skills play well with her high damage hit-and-run. Impact Attack can save her own or an ally's life by delaying a foe's turn, while Smoldering Madness slowly ramps up your front line's Attack - since you'll likely be swapping her in and out a lot, the buff can add up quickly. Beat Down can be useful since you'll likely bring her in for cleanup, and free MP recovery is always nice. Vampiric Wrath is possibly useless, since Flan is unlikely to survive any real damage she's weak to, but you may be able to take advantage of it with careful manipulation of her Cold, Wind, Nature, and Spirit affinities, alongside extra investment into her already excellent HP.

In Plus Disk her SPD growth is lowered from 10.5 to 10.

The corresponding personal spell will receive a 25% damage bonus. Each effect only lasts one turn.
Comments
Flandre's awakening skills are a mix of offensive boosts and convenience skills. Control of Madness will negate her side effects half the time, which makes her spells easier to use... maybe. It's still RNG-reliant and shouldn't be relied on, but less demerits is less. Other than that, Propagating Madness doesn't have nearly as much team support value as Minoriko's counterpart, but has much more self-support potential, while Bloodsuck gives a further buff to Flandre's attack and speed when she uses Starbow Break or safer subclass attacks (plus some free healing). Roulette of Destruction is another very RNG-reliant skill; you might not be in a position to use whatever spell its boost lands on, but it's still a 1/3 chance to improve damage by 25% at the very worst. Proof of Kinship for SDM Residents is useful as usual, even if the defensive boost is worthless to Flandre.

While not directly related to awakening, it's worth noting that in Plus Disk it's possible to fix up Flandre's affinities with equipment to utilize her excellent HP, and access powerful, non-self-murdering subclass skills, making it realistic to use her more like a normal character at least part of the time.
