Original Romanized Translation

ushiro no shoumen dareka shirazu ni michibikareta jibun mo moshiya, mononoke? koe kakete mo nigerare…

Someone standing behind me Without noticing, guided me Am I, perhaps, a ghost too? Though I’ve greet it, it ran away…

saikin shabettenai na sore sae wasureteta yo jibun no koe ga hisashii konna koe dattakke ka?

I haven’t talked much lately I’ve forgot even that It’s been a while Has my voice always been like this?

mononoke wa yoru ga suki hiru wa neteru dake mononoke wa warui yatsu imeeji de kataru yatsu

Ghosts like the night They sleep only in the day Ghosts are evil beings They talk by their image

shizukana koya de hitori kazoku nante inai yoru wo machiwabiru kono honnou mo, mohaya fuyou

Alone in a silent hut Without a family I no longer need this instinct to wait impatiently the night

doushite shinjatta no sa? koukai nai kedo sa nakunari wa shinai kono kodou wa mononoke guruuvu

Why have I died? I don’t have regrets, but This beat hasn’t gone away The ghosts groove

mae yori zaiakukan ga nainda odokasu no ga shigoto de ikigairashii honki de omotteru no ka?

I don’t feel more guilty than before Scaring is your job It’s like your raison d’être Do you really think that?

mononoke ni mo kokoro wa aru kara mayoeru shinu mae kara mayotte shinda ato mo mayou to…

Even ghosts have a heart, so they too may hesitate Hesitating before death and hesitating after death…

Alone in a silent house My family won’t come back It won’t change even if I die This is the sad truth

doushite shinjatta ka to oshiete hoshii no kai? ashi wo kujiita no sa nigiyakana mononoke guruuvu

Do you want to know Why have I died? I sprained my legs, it’s a bustling Ghosts groove

(momonomonoke momonomonoke) (mokemokemoke momonokenoke) (momonomonoke momonomonoke) (nani yareba ii?)

(Gh-gh-gho-gho-ost gh-gh-gho-gho-ost) (Gho-sts-gho-st-gho-st gh-gh-gho-ost-gho-ost) (Gh-gh-gho-gho-ost gh-gh-gho-gho-ost) (What should I do?)

mononoke wa yofukashi suki dare mo chuuishinai tomodachi ga inai yatsu wa yoru mo hiru mo koya no naka

Ghosts like staying up late at night Nobody is careful They are beings without friends Who stay night and day in a hut

doushite shinjatta no sa? oshiete hoshii no kai? ashi wo kujiita no sa nigiyakana mononoke guruuvu de sa

Why did I die? Do you want to know? I sprained my legs, in this bustling Ghosts groove

“後ろの正面 / Someone standing behind me”; I’m quite sure this is a reference to Kagome Kagome, with the difference that instead of being “Who is it standing behind you/Who is behind you now?”, this time is not a question, but a simple phrase.

“自分の声が久しい / It’s been a while”; since putting “it’s been a while my voice” would have sounded too… weird, I’ve left it simply as “it’s been a while”. The meaning is, of course, “It’s been a while since the last time I’ve heard my voice”.

“もものものけ / Too scared (I think?) to say ghosts”; or so that’s what I think when hearing this part. Or reading, if you prefer. Point is: this is a song, so it doesn’t really tell me “oh hey someone is so scared they can’t even say “ghosts” properly” but rather “let’s party”, so… just stick with Japanese lyrics here.
