You might have noticed that I have excluded the romanisation for the ‘aerial lyrics’ (the ones in brackets). It’s actually a made up language being sung, that seems to be somewhat based on Latin. The Japanese lyrics are the ‘translation’ of what is being sung. So, in an odd odd way, I have written a translation of a ‘translation’ (lol).
Romanized | Translation |
utsukushiki, kakowareta sekai |
Beautiful is our enclosed world (Though our tale that has been completed should have been blessed, we still cannot be forgiven, nor can we be just one, so it’s here where we would meet our end) |
tomatta tokei dake ga shiru akaku aoku utsurou mesaia |
Only the frozen clock knows of the Messiah waning away in red and blue (Though our tale that has been completed should have been blessed, we still cannot be forgiven. Nevertheless, I wonder: Can it be full of enjoyment?) |
aishite, watashi dake wo |
And love, only me (I loved, only you) |
moeru reonidasu itsuka nakusu nara mou nanimo hoshiku wa nai no watashi to iu honoo yo, kodokuna honoo yo afureru dake no ai wo yaite |
My Burning Leonidas, If I were to lose you someday, there would be nothing else for me The flame called ‘me’ is a lonely fire that only burns a love overflowing. (There is no such thing like eternity. Although I am not afraid to let go, I am very scared of being separated from you. The concept of you ruled over me, the hideous monster that I am, and even now I will continue to bind only you) (1) |
dareka ni ubawareru no nara, watashi ga tozashite shimaeba ii |
In case you’re ever stolen away by someone, I should just lock you away. |
moeru reonidasu akai hira chirashite shindeiku, utsukushii mama ni kono sekai subete wo aishi norou youni anata ni ima, kuchidzuke wo |
My Burning Leonidas, your red flakes scatter in your passing, beautiful wherever And so I love and hate everything in this world And to you now, a kiss… (There is no such thing like eternity. Although I am not afraid to let go, I am very scared of being separated from you. The concept of you ruled over me, the hideous monster that I am, and even now I will continue to bind only you) |
moetsukita hana wo idaite darenimo todokanu uta, utau wa |
Holding your burnt out flowers close, I sing a requiem that reaches nobody at all |

(1) I took a bit of liberty here. 「醜い芦」translates to ‘ugly reed’ literally. However, the pronunciation of the kanji 「芦」 (the name for the common reed), can either be said as ‘ashi’ or ‘yoshi’, of which would also mean ‘evil’ (ashi) and ‘good’ (yoshi). The latter reading had apparently came about due to the fact that the word was seen as an ‘ill omen’. After much consideration, I came to believe that the lyricist had probably meant to convey something along the lines of ‘ugly evil’ based on the context. This is a bit of a guess, so please correct me if I am mistaken or if my interpretation is a bit off.
