Original Romanized Translation

遠く輝く月に映る淡い幻 見遣る夢路の結末は 何をもたらすのだろう 月は雲間に翳り 嘆き求め彷徨う 捨てた故郷の 面影はどこか歪んで見えた

tooku kagayaku tsuki ni utsuru awai maboroshi miyaru yumeji no ketsumatsu wa nani wo motarasu no darou tsuki wa kumoma ni kageri nageki-motome samayou suteta furusato no omokage wa dokoka yugande mieta

A faint illusion is reflected in the far away shining moon. Staring down this dream road, I wonder what its end will bring. The moon casts shadows in the gaps between the clouds. Sighing, seeking... I wander. When did I come to see the face of my abandoned hometown so distorted?

嗚呼 この宇宙 (そら) に いくつもの 月の影 星の風が 語りかけ 避けられぬ 別れさえ 咎なら 闇の中ふと 憂う

aa kono sora ni ikutsu mono tsuki no kage hoshi no kaze ga katari kake sakerarenu wakare sae toga nara yami no naka futo ureu

Ah, how many moons' shadows are there in this universe? The wind of the stars speaks to me. I can't avoid it, even separate myself from it, the guilt. In the middle of the darkness, unexpectedly I grieve.

終わり無き世界が“在り方”を狂わせて どこへ向かうのかわからない 時だけが流れ往く

owari naki sekai ga "arikata" wo kuruwasete doko e mukau no ka wakaranai toki dake ga nagare yuku

This unending world distorts what it means to exist. I don't know where to turn to, and Only time keeps flowing.

広い宇宙 (そら) を揺蕩う 黒い仮初めの星 何を示すため生まれくる 時だけをただ待って

hiroi sora wo tayutau kuroi karisome no hoshi nani wo shimesu tame umare kuru toki dake wo tada matte

Swaying in the broad universe is a black, insignificant star[1] For what was it born to point to? It simply waits for its time.

嗚呼 存在の 意味すらも 消え果てて この宇宙 (そら) に ただ独りで 言葉すら交わさずに 時だけ 流れ往く様を見る 永久

aa sonzai no imi sura mo kie-hatete kono sora ni tada hitori de kotoba sura kawasazu ni toki dake nagare yuku zama wo miru towa

Ah, even its existence's meaning fades away In this universe all alone. Without exchanging a word, it sees Eternity as only flowing along with time.

この大空に輝く星なら数え切れず 幾億の星霜経れば全て闇に消え往くのか

kono oozora ni kagayaku hoshi nara kazoe-kirezu iku oku no seisou hereba subete yami ni kie-yuku no ka

In this great sky you can't count the number of shining stars, But after how many hundred millions of stars pass away[2], will everything fade into darkness?

現在 (いま) は立ち所に過去に消え 常なるものなどありはしない 月はこの宇宙 (そら) で光放ち いくつの過ち照らすだろう 消え往く月想う

ima wa tachi-dokoro ni kako ni kie tsune naru mono nado ari wa shinai tsuki wa kono sora de hikari hanachi ikutsu no ayamachi terasu darou kie-yuku tsuki omou

The present passes from its place and disappears into the past There isn’t anything that stays constant As the moon releases light onto the universe, How many faults will it shine upon? The thoughts of a disappearing moon.

  1. "a black, insignificant star" – ie. a star that has no purpose existing, because it doesn't shine; it has no place to indicate or light the way to (how she thinks of herself). Also side note – "star" can often carry the same meaning as planets or moons, so a black star could be a moon with no sun to reflect its light, etc. This aligns more with her last statement: The thoughts of a disappearing moon. Also, the word "insignificant" that is used is tied to "transient". Literally, something that began with the intention that it would/should only be temporary, a place holder etc.
  2. "how many hundred millions of stars pass away" they use a word which means literally, "star frost" – and it used as an indication of the passage of time.
