Touhou Kourinden ~ Mythos of Phantasmagoria, known in Japan as Touhou Kourinden ~ Gensou no Yuusha (Legend of the Fragrant Lotus ~ Hero of Phantasm) (東方香霖伝~幻想の勇者), is a fanmade Touhou Project role-playing game developed and published by Drillimation Systems. The game stars Rinnosuke Morichika, Marisa Kirisame, Alice Margatroid, and Patchouli Knowledge, and features several characters from both the PC-98 and Windows canons, alongside several original characters created by Drillimation Systems and Studio Emiko.

Gameplay

The game is played from a top-down perspective. Players navigate Rinnosuke in the overworld, fight enemies from a side view perspective, and can configure their items, gear, magic, and gameplay settings.

Enemies appear in the overworld instead of having random encounters. Enemy formations are randomized and players attack them using their weapon, special skills, or magic spells. The active party member can also guard, use an item, or flee (this is not possible in event battles). Party members' and enemies' vitality is measured in hit points (HP); when a battler's HP is dropped to zero, they will faint and be unable to battle. Once all enemies have fainted, all party members receive a number of experience points which raise their level after a certain number of experience points have been accumulated.

The battle system borrows mechanics from other role-playing franchises, including Final Fantasy for its use of the active time battle system and magic spell naming, Pokémon for its elemental typing and stat system, and Undertale for the enemy attack sequences.
