妖怪は寿命が長いとはいえ、当然新しく生まれる事もある。	Even though youkai have long lifespans, naturally, new ones come into being as well.
メディスン・メランコリーは生まれたばかりの妖怪の一人である。	Medicine Melancholy is one of these newborn youkai.
捨てられた人形が、時を経て妖怪に成長したものである。	She was a discarded doll that over time changed into a youkai.
姿は腹話術に使う大きめの人形程度である。	Her form is that of a large doll used in ventriloquism.
もともとの人形がその位の大きさだったのだと思われる。	It is believed that the original doll from which she came was roughly that size.
妖怪になっても体も人形のままである。	Even after becoming a youkai, her body is still that of a doll.
毒を操る能力は、鈴蘭の咲く無名の丘（＊１）に長い間放置されていた事で身に付いた能力だと思われる。	It is believed that the ability to manipulate poison was naturally attained by being left on the Hill of the Nameless (*1), where numerous lilies-of-the-valley bloom, for a long time.
食事に毒を盛る。	She puts poison in food.
毒を使って人間を操る。	She uses poison to manipulate humans.
毒の影響を受けやすい（＊２）人間にとっては脅威の人形である。	She's a threat to humans that are easily affected by poison (*2).
ただ、まだ若い妖怪の為、圧倒的に経験や知識が浅い。	Being a young youkai, her experience and knowledge is overwhelmingly shallow.
人間よりも無知である。	She possesses even less knowledge than humans.
その為、相手が妖怪だろうが人間だろうが手加減という物を知らない。	Because of this, whether she's dealing with a human or youkai, she doesn't know the meaning of holding back.
相手の力量を見抜く事も出来ないのだ。	She also can't judge how strong her opponent is.
それ故に恐ろしい。	Therefore, she is fearsome.

・人形かと思って手を出したら、爛れた　（匿名）	"I thought it was a doll, but when I touched it my skin became inflamed." (Anonymous)
触れるだけでも体へ悪影響を及ぼす。	Merely touching her will have a negative effect on your body.

・この間、小さな妖怪が里に降りてきたと思ったら、逃げていったよ。あれは本当に妖怪だったのか？　（匿名）	"The other day, this small youkai dropped by the village, but immediately ran away. Was that really a youkai?" (Anonymous)
大量の人間を見た事が無いのだと思われる。	It is thought that she has not seen a large number of humans.
だが、決して深追いしてはいけない。	However, you must never chase after her.
里に毒霧をばら撒きに戻ってくるかもしれない。	She may return to spread a poisonous fog over the village.
・無名の丘で小さな人形が嬉しそうに跳ね回っているのを見た。鈴蘭の毒に冒されたのだろうか　（夢次）	"I saw a small doll hopping happily at the Hill of the Nameless. I wonder if the poison from the flowers there got to her." (Yumetsugu)
無防備な印象を受けるが、それは妖怪としての経験が浅すぎる為だろう。	She gives the impression that she's defenseless, but that's just a result of her overly shallow experience as a youkai.
成長するまでは迂闊に刺激しない方が良い。	Until she matures, it's best to avoid carelessly provoking her.
対策	Countermeasures
毒の種類は全くわからない。	The type of poison is completely unknown.
花の毒、蛇の毒、蜂の毒、蜘蛛の毒、直接触れると爛れる毒、風下にいるだけで倒れてしまう毒、様々である。	There are many types of poison: flower's poison, snake's poison, bee's poison, spider's poison, poison that causes inflammation just by touching it and poison that knocks you unconscious just by whiffing it.
それ故、毒に冒された場合、決定的な治療法は無い。	Because of that, if one is affected by poison there is no definite treatment method.
毒の本当の恐ろしさは、この妖怪と対峙した時に分かるだろう。	You will probably understand the true terror of poison when you confront this youkai.
それは、近くに居るだけで妖怪すらも怯むほどの猛毒を浴びる事でもあるのだ。	Just being near her can mean being showered in a poison strong enough to intimidate even youkai.
まずこの時点で勝負どころではない。	At this point, it's not the time to be thinking about fighting.
この妖怪が精神的に成長するまでは退治するのは控えよう。	Until this youkai develops mentally, refrain from exterminating her.
現在の弱点は、その経験の浅さにある。	Her current weak point is her shallow experience.
相手は人間を嫌っているが、上手く言い包めてしまえば、コロッと騙される。	She hates humans, but if you skillfully manage your words, you can deceive her easily.
人間嫌いの人間の振りをすると良い。	You could pretend to be a human that hates humans.
毒の威力は恐ろしいし、後遺症も残る。	The strength of her poison is fearsome, and can leave aftereffects.
長い間潜伏する遅効性の毒（＊３）も恐ろしい。	Poisons that remain latent for a long time and cause delayed effects (*3) are also dangerous.
全力で戦闘を回避する必要がある。	You must avoid fighting her at all costs.
＊１　無名と言う名前。後述。	1: It is a hill that has no name. Mentioned later.
＊２　お酒の飲みすぎも体に毒。　お酒を無理に勧められたら断る勇気も必要だ。	2: Drinking too much alcohol is poison for the body. If you are pressured to over-imbibe alcohol, you need the courage to refuse.
＊３　アルコールとかニコチンとか。	3: Such as alcohol and nicotine.
