Raijuu (雷獣, raijū lit. Thunder Beast) is a legendary creature from Japanese mythology. Its body consists either fire or lightning and it is either shaped like a cat, tanuki, monkey or a weasel. It flies like a ball of thunder and its cry sounds like thunder. Raijuu is the accomplice of Raijin, the Shinto god of lightning. Raijuu are normally courteous and friendly, but during thunderstorms, they wreak havoc.
