わかさぎ姫は人魚、赤蛮奇はろくろ首、影狼は狼女で、いずれも普段は大人しくしている妖怪たちだ。「輝針城」の異変の際には、打ち出の小槌の魔力にあてられて凶暴化、霊夢に襲い掛かってしまったが軽くあしらわれた。彼女たちのように力が弱く大人しい妖怪たちは「草の根妖怪ネットワーク」という寄り合い所帯を組織して情報を交換したりしているらしい。	Wakasagihime is a mermaid, Sekibanki is a rokurokubi, and Kagerou is a wolf woman. At the time of the Double Dealing Character incident, they all got affected by the magical power of the Miracle Mallet and attacked Reimu, but they were all treated as minor threats. It seems that youkai that are weak and docile like these three ladies have established a close-knit organization known as the "Grassroots Youkai Network" in order to exchange information.

わかさぎ姫：淡水の人魚っていう字面が面白くて。そもそも人魚が童話のおかげで儚いイメージなので、とにかく弱そう。和風の人魚をストレートにデザインしました。	Wakasagihime: I really like the idea of a freshwater mermaid. Thanks to the transient image of mermaids in fairy tales, she seems weak. I just went for a straightforward "mermaid in Japanese clothes" design.
赤蛮奇：超メジャーなろくろ首ですが、気持ち悪くならないように表現するのに悩みました。首元を隠して、詳細はご想像にお任せする感じに……。	Sekibanki: She's an incredibly major youkai, the rokurokubi, but I was worried how to make sure she didn't feel disgusting. I hid her neck so the details would be left to your imagination.
影狼：これも定番だけど、獣化することに悩んでね。獣って難しい。でもガロン（※編注：カプコン『ヴァンパイア』のキャラ）ネタを入れることは決めてました。アオーン。	Kagerou: Another standard one, but I was worried about the transformation. Beasts are hard. But I decided to include a parody of Gallon (*Editor: A character from Capcom's "Vampire" series). Awoo.
